Both times were exactly the right decision. But Pardew was after a 0-4 away win and Adkins after a 2-2 away draw at Chelsea.

I don't think we have the right to call the Clarke sacking disgraceful, pots and kettles and all that given the poor run they had been on.

I happen to like Clarke but liked pardew and adkins too. Maybe wba have a masterplan

I hope West Brom have a replacement lined up. Will look very foolish in hindsight if the next guy doesn't do better.

Decisions like this are based on the overall picture. The difference is that in most cases the manager is sacked after yet another bad loss...Cortese makes up his mind and isn't swayed or delayed by a good result. Pardew had started the season badly...one good result didn't change Nicola's opinion of him. Nigel had done what he was hired for, but sadly wasn't the style of manager that NC wanted. I suspect WBA will be the more usual case...sack your manager, install someone temporarily whilst you faff around looking at all the available 'talent'.

I don't disagree with anything you have put here Fran and Clarke appears to be a bright young manager. There are a number of dismissals that don't make sense, di matteo after winning the champions league etc and saints seemed strange at the time.

We don't quite know what else has gone on and reading every post on here saying it's disgraceful and absurd I think we should just know a bit better than most.

Must be a damn good player if he can get a hat-trick whilst being rested.

Mackay could get the job, which would be a bit ironic.

Also, remember that in Pardew's case, it was said that Liebherr had wanted him gone on one or two occasions, but Cortese waited until the time was right for SFC. I think also that by meeting up with the staff in Switzerland, that pre-season, he was able to get a better idea of the morale around the camp. I think Cortese actually made an error in not having a manager standing by, but had appoint someone several games afterwards. He certainly didn't repeat it.

That they're currently 11th certainly gives me confidence that we'll finish top half.

I had fierce arguments with a couple of my mates last season about the fact that I didn't think either Benteke or Michu are really that good (One of them was adamant that they are both better than Aguero), so I take great satisfaction in their slow starts to the season

Think that he's still injured, or isn't confident that he isn't still injured. Just isn't accelerating in the same fashion.

Dyer has suffered a pretty horrific-looking ankle injury...studs caught and his ankle gave way.

Hooper equalizes with a great goal, and my quest for 26 points in the prediction league collapses.

I need no goals in the first half of the Liverpool game. Can't see it myself.

In terms of Aston Villa's Home form, and their relative abilities, they make Man City's record of obtaining good results in Away fixtures an extreme success story.

tbf we should have beaten Villa. They could play all season and not score from 3/4 attempts.
