I'm happy to eulogise about Suarez - as a striker! As such, he is undoubtedly one of the world's best. If his more "wayward" tendencies can be controlled, he's virtually unplayable at times...

Suarez needs to be at his best for us to get anything. Can't see anything but a Spurs win tbh. I just don't see the likes of Allen, Sterling, Henderson and Moses striking fear into you.

    I agree.

Without Suarez, Liverpool are like Jaffa Cakes without the orange and chocolate. Just stale plain biscuit.

  5. Please, can we stop all the wumming! I don't want to destroy this thread's credibility as the premier one-stop-shop 'Pool/Mouser debating forum.

Yeah, he's great. I don't think any of the rest of us could put together a good match thread to save our lives :D

What about Notso's legendary Europa League threads?

  9. I think I could do quite a creditable match-thread. For example, if I were to do the Spurs v 'Pool match-thread, this is how I would probably introduce it:-

"Both clubs have a long and illustrious history in the football league's top division. Spurs have won the FA Cup a total of 8 times, the first coming as early as 1900/01. They were the first English club to win European honours, in 1963; and in addition to their 3 major European trophies, have won a further 8 honours, including the Costa Del Sol Tournament Cup, in 1965 and 1966, the first time that cup had been retained by an English side. 'Pool, of course, had a fair bit of glory in the 70s, but have struggled in recent times to do anything useful, etc..."

Now, tell me that that isn't class, guys!

Haig, you forgot to mention that the Mousers didn't have much opposion in the seventies. Manure and Spurs managed to get themselves relegated, Chelsea were a skint cup side with a racist following, giants like Villa, Derby, Forest and West Spam were their major opposition. Even the great Leeds were in decline. Teams like Dynamo Inthemiddleofnowhere were winning European trophies in those days.

Yeah, we are proud of our team and our history, the ups and downs of being a Spurs fan is all part of the fun. Mousers appear to view their history through pink tinted specs. When was the last time you heard a mouser point out that they are still playing at a ground which wasn't good enough for Everton over one hundred years ago.

At least get the story correct deedub <laugh>, the blushite as they are now know got their arses kicked out of Anfield because they wouldn't pay a rent increase for the place, our then soon to be new owner/manager of our soon to be newly formed club had every right to kick them out.

And yes we do and have had major ups and downs mate, the disgrace of 1985, the sadness of Hillsborough, our being responsible for keeping the club now known as Manchester Utd in business in the betting scandal, a couple of relegations, losing a few finals along the way, but we've also had a few wins down the years as you history buffs know and keep reminding us of.

And a special mention to Luis Suarez who has provided many ups and downs during his time at LFC.<ok>

Come on PMK, tell the full story.
The local mayor, a former Tory councillor, pulled a fast one. Along with his mate, a fellow brewer, he pushed Everton into an impossible position.
He bought Anfield, stopped Everton contributing to charity for their rent, then increased it by 150%.
He then attempted to blackmail them into buying the place and some adjoining worthless land, so that he could make a massive profit.
When Everton moved out he decided to form Everton Athletic FC, playing in blue and forced to use Scottish mercenaries as players, as no Englishman would join such a club, becoming the first English club to field an entirely non-English side.
The authorities wouldn't stand for two clubs called Everton though, so you had to become Liverpool, instead.

    Can't think why it's never mentioned... <whistle>

Jeez PNP do you read wiki on a regular basis.<laugh>

The part about about us having what was known as "the team of mc's" all Scottish is true because the then English FA backed the rent dodgers and we couldn't sign English registered players, as Spurs have had many good Scottish players down the years a thank you from your club is long overdue for us making that possible.<whistle>

No need to thank Liverpool for introducing Scottish players to the English game, I'm afraid.
Villa's Jockish influence should be obvious, for a start. They had at least one big name Scot retire before you were formed.
Their current lion's a bit camp though, so it's easy to understand any confusion.

Ok, but if Everton had paid the rent increase we would never have been part of the betting scandal that kept the mancs from folding, that's a bigger cross to bare than once being owned by an ex EFC owner and playing at their former ground<whistle>
