You might remember I put this up LTO at 14/1 and it came flying home from the back to take 3rd under a claimer. Well today it gets the assistance of Hayley Turner in the saddle this time and she has won 4 times on him, to help he has been dropped another couple of pounds in the handicap so runs off 57 here which means he is now able to run off of a mark 18lb lower then his last winning mark!

Wolverhamtpon 6.25 LASTKINGOFSCOTLAND 5/1 opened 13/2 at PP so had some of that as well.

    Best of luck all <cheers>

1.05 Cheltenham Finger On The Pulse 33/1 looks an absolutely huge price. Now rated 125, the 2008 Jewson hero is getting on in years now a 12 year old but you only have to look back to the summer for form that would give him a belting chance in this. A winner off a 2lb lower mark of 123 at Stratford at the start of July, Finger On The Pulse put in another couple of belting performances when 3rd in the Betfair Summer Plate Listed Handicap at Market Rasen and a good finish in 2nd beaten 1L off 6lb higher marks of 131 and a replication of any of those efforts should see him go very close. Since then he didn't run too badly in decent contests off marks of 132 and 131 at Market Rasen and Cheltenham respectively but he's got a bit to prove having been pulled up on his last two starts. The handicapper has relented, however, dropping him 6lb and off a mark of 125 he would definitely have a big chance if bouncing back. The class act in the field in terms of rating, James Huxham's 8lb claim off top weight is a big help in this Conditional Jockeys Handicap and returned to the C+D of his career I think 33s is miles too big a price.

Abruzzi I believe was his other one. Something about low weight and yard in form.

I find it quite hard to evaluate his form but I can't not have a bet on 2.40 Cheltenham Quercy De Manoir 16/1. Trainer/owner Jean-Paul Gasnier sends his 9 year old across from France for this Cross Country handicap chase and having just squeaked in with a featherweight of 10 stone with jockey G Cottreau (ridden him once; no clue about him otherwise) claiming 7lb he has to carry absolutely no weight at all on his back (RP reports jockey's lowest weight of last year 10-1 but that could be way off) over this mammoth 3m7f trip. Seemingly a horse with quite an affinity for Cross Country races, Quercy De Manoir landed two such events in France at big prices over the summer and although it is very difficult to quantify his form I'd be fairly surprised if he didn't have a big squeak off 115 with such a low weight for what is the trainers first runner in the UK as I just can't see why he'd waste the trip if he didn't feel he had a big chance, especially as he owns him. As I said, a punt in the dark with regards to his form but at 16/1 and off 9-7 (if the jockey can do the weight) he certainly intrigues me enough to have a bet on him today.

I had to pop in to work this morning but solved the problem quickly. Hong kong is 8 hours in front of us but they are so bright and sharp. Expecting the same here - which of Oscar Whisky or Wonderful Charm will prevail tomorrow - imo - Oscar Whisky

ROTO _ Sir - I also have been trying to merit the French invader and have thrown a few bob towards the Entente cordiale - its a mystery as to the extent of it's abilility - do you tell connections the expense warrants it's involvement - do they care - or is it a winner - we shall see

Morning Toppy. I am keen to take on Oscar. Spent to long over hurdles for me and i wasn't at all impressed with his jumping on debut and against a horse like Wonderful Charm i think he will be found out.

Will be backing Coctails at dawn in the last. I was at Newbury last year and had a good word for the horse so made it the last selection in a £20 5fold. Basically the first 4 won then this let me down for about £2500. So i remember it very well!!!

Some light has been shed on the run since via a jumps preview book i have where it's commented by Henderson.
I mainly copied that out for this barney character that frequents the forum, although he most probably already knows.

I think the race turned out to be quite good, so fourth wasn't all that bad, and getting weight from the main players could be crucial.

So Cocktails at dawn 6/1 and had a small bet for the neptune at 25/1 fully expecting to lose my money, just in case.

England took 3 of the tallest, fastest bowlers in the country to Australia.

At the bounciest, fastest pitch down under, they have selected a full NONE of them.

Now the Aussie tail is spanking around the tired skiddy bowlers and costing us a test match.

Morning all first post for a while been given a couple over at lowly Wolverhampton tonight in those compressed handicaps they roll out on a near daily basis.the two in question are sweet vintage for w brisbourne Luke Morris up. Currently around 12/1 and in the finale it's katmai river for m usher currently around the 6/1 mark.will be having two each way singles and a each way double.just the one at Cheltenham for me the hideously named Thomas crapper currently around 6/1 this is a descent animal from a small yard improving fast would be a lot shorter in the betting if trained by one of the big stables.ive gone each way again on this one just about the biggest bet I've had this year so fingers crossed best of luck all.

Not quite sure where my post went from last night but I will run through my selection again..

I have looked at the 14:00 at Southwell and I can't have Kung Hei Fat Choy of this mark. He was a twice previous C & D winner off 59 and again with a 6lb penalty, but the only other time he has made the frame on the fibresand was a placed effort off 72, a mark to which he returns today. There are a number of other C & D winners in the field including Docofthebay who is well below his last winning mark, and with the claimer on Piceno, he also drops 1lb below his last winning mark. However, its a horse 6lb higher than his last winning mark that holds the key to this IMO. Sofias Number One has been nothing but progressive on the sand and won comfortably here on his last appearance, taking his 5th C & D success. Although now off a career high mark, he is most certainly up to defying this now returning to the sand. I've taken a single on him and also thrown together a trixie including Last King Of Scotland and Neighbourhood - who is a course winner at Southwell in a race with only one other winner on the Sand who is returning from a 258 absence.
