Agreed SD he has stabilised the club and he is now developing us for the next level and it will take a little time. This is why I get so pissed off with some of these twats on TWTD who constantly moan about the performances! With the resources he has had at his disposal Mick has done a fantastic job.

    Agreed.
I know it's been a slog supporting Ipswich the last few years but things are coming together nicely and a bit of patience is key now. I would rather have a team to support in the championship, playing slightly dull football than be like Wolves who wanted more, hounded Mick out and dropped like a stone because of it.

Oh I agree, it's what you get from all Micks teams and is neccessary to build upon but what he's failed to do with all his clubs is take the next step and IMO that's down just to his management style and how he works. I definitely think he's capable of making the next step, as a manager he has the ability but sometimes he's too stubborn and set in his ways to do so. I don't think we'll ever be a team known for playing good football under Mick, that's just not his style but he's not a hoof ball manager either, his teams can play football but they're all very workman like and solid over creative.

    WTF!!

Some people are never bleeding satisfied! <doh>

The Championship is a grind and a slog by definition! RESULTS atm are far more important than performances! I used to hate it when the match reports used to read "Ipswich played quality football but were undone by a goal....." I am more than happy with the direction that Mick is taking us in and think some people need a big reality check.

I'm very satisfied with the position we are in, infact it excedes my expectations but just because Mick is a very good manager at this level and has done a great job at the club doesn't mean I can't critic him or have an opinion on his style of management.

My opinion has remained the same on him throughout the season, a few weeks ago he was getting criticised even by yourself JWM because we weren't getting results. Obviously opinion changes with results but after 3 wins he hasn't miraculously become a different manager just as after 1 win in 6 games without a win he hasn't. Perspective is what is needed.

As I've said I'm very content with Mick and he's a very talented manager but I think he limits that talent sometimes by some of the decisions he makes which is frustrating, now most people 3 games ago were saying exactly this but because I've brought it up in a debate after 3 wins it now makes it wrong??

If we didn't debate on here or discuss the odd bit of substance/opinion from time to time we might as well shut the board down and create a shrine saying how wonderful Mick is and how we all agree with every single decision he has ever made.

He can continue to limit that talent if he can get the current average, if not fairly poor squad two points off the play offs that's for sure.

What amuses me most is that although we are joint 4th for leading scorers in the Championship some still think we are not that creative. I wonder if some are getting creating chances confused with "pretty" football.!

Depends on how you classify a chance, hoppers. A lot of our goals have come from either set pieces or long range efforts.
It's also a lot harder to count chances when we're counting goals instead.

For example, Noubles goal against Blackburn -was that a chance before Nouble got involved? As soon as he did it was pretty much a goal.

Or is every corner that doesn't result in a goal a missed chance?

I think people maybe looking for the clear cut chance that comes from excellent team play. The defence splitting through ball from the midfield etc. You're right though, as long as were scoring it doesn't really matter

I agree Mike, I still don't think we're an overly creative team but by the same token as I'm surprised by how many goals we've scored, I'm also surprised by how many goals we've conceded because we limit teams to very few chances.

It's amazing how many goals we've scored from Cresswell crosses and set pieces this season, it's good to see Mick realises he's by far the best set piece taker in our squad and we're not having to put up with Lee Martin or Leadbitter set pieces anymore but it's left us extremely reliant on our LB to create chances. Most of our goals come from the brilliance of Cresswells crosses or from some individual brilliance by McG.

It was good to see Skuse put the through ball in to McG at the weekend though, I wish Skuse would step up to the plate a bit more because it's clearly something he's got in his locker

Or some could just carry on picking holes or finding fault rather than rejoice in our current league position......On Saturday SBR stand sang E I E I E I O UP THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE WE GO............I cant remember the last time town fans sung that at PR..<ok>

How does, we are creating enough chances to put us on the cusp of the play offs & joint 4th highest scorers in the league.?

I've been fairly happy with the way things are going all season early on we lost some games we could of won but just lately we are getting the results we deserve IMO,
still a long way to go and we might lose a few but at least we are competeing in this league rather than just fighting to stay in it.

The other thing that makes me Smile is when people say that "Mick is a limited Manager". In that case I am so glad to have a limited manager who has already guided 2 teams to the Premier League as Champions and Kept Wolves there for 3 seasons!

I think some of our fans just don't like us scoring from corners or set pieces, you have to ask yourself though how did we get those free kicks or corners in the 1st place, was it that the defenders/midfielders just decided to boot it out for a corner or fouled one of our players in the attacking 3rd for the fun of it.?
Or was it that they were under pressure from us with our creative attacking display.?

God I hate it when we score from set pieces, it does my head in!!!

any chance of some reasonable debate on here or are we going to continue with the petty arguments? I'm very happy with the past 3 results and pleased with where we are, as I said it has exceeded my expectations. I've just given an opinion on Micks style of management and how we play, it's just what I see, I'm not going to lie.

or alternatively we could just say we've won 3 games on the trot 2 points off the playoffs E I O Up the football league we go, end of conversation end of itfcnot606
