ENGLAND ARE IN GROUP D Group D: Uruguay, England, Costa Rica and Italy. assume everyone beats costa rica (big big asumption for england) therefore this goes down to two results. if england draw the two games and win one then what you want is say uruguay to beat italy and you crawl though in second by one point.... simples. then you go in to the next round and play for pens. this is the hodgson game plan... defend defend defend.. .get it to rooney... defend defend defend... gerrard runs out of position... opposition score. etc.
Toughest group in the draw IMO. The other two groups got 1 team that will lose every game. (Costs Rica and Australia). Although Costa Rica will pull a Chelsea and park the bus. The weather won't really effect them either, but they're not a great football team. The bright side for the us Americans is that we got two teams from Europe. We'll be a little more accustomed to the weather because of our travels into Central America and we've played well against European teams. We've struggled against South American teams under Klinnsman so I'm glad we dodged that bullet.
Its Portugal or USA for second behind Germany imo Uruguay will win our group with Italy second and us third.
Apart from Suarez & Cavani, the rest of the team isn't that great and are all ageing. Manage to keep those 2 quite (easier said than done) and we have a decent chance of beating them.
Forwards score goals. Look at how well were doing despite having a poor squad in comparison; Suarez, Sturridge & Coutinho!
True, but keep them quiet and we'll have a very good chance of winning. If they perform to their best though then it will be a very difficult t=game.
And you have Sturridge, Uruguay has Suarez. Hopefully both score lots in the groups, and we look even better. For USA, I see us getting third. Realistically, we could be in any spot, 1-4, but I just have a feeling we'll be third.
Not sure you are in with a shout of 1-4 RB 2-4 though As for my lot we have a chance of 3-4 Come on Roy...inspire the nation.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Klinsmann does know the German side inside out. We start with Portugal so hopefully we can build some momentum.
I meant without me being surprised... We've beaten Germany recently, so it's really anyone's group. It's the group of death because the four teams were favored from their respective Conferences to make it out of group stages.
Plus, most groups have one team that is, on paper, a free win for the other 3 teams. In group G, you have 4 teams that anything short of making the last 16 is a failure. Portugal isn't that good, other than they have a Ronaldo who seems intent on making his mark this World Cup.
So our games in order are Ghana, Portugal and Germany. Great chance to get the 6 points before the Germans.
Kind if feel you have to beat Ghana, anything less and you're out. Can't see Germany and Portugal both losing to them, they aren't the same team they were 4 years ago.
