Has anyone had the misfortune to be evacuated yet? We're in the middle of the North Norfolk zone nndc are saying villages are being evacuated now but we live on top of a hill so think we're safe.

Thoughts go out to those in village halls and schools tonight especially as it'll be for 36 hours now (3 high tides)

All low lying areas round from Snettisham to Clacton are at serious risk.
Wells, Salthouse, Blakeney etc in the middle of evacuating residents.

Likewise Walcott which seems to take a traditional battering :-(

Cromer is on fairly high cliffs, but coastguards are present, helping haul fishing boats away from the beach area.
80 minutes to go yet until high tide, as well !

I imagine it is the same storm as you´re talking about, because we´ve been battered along the west coast of Jutland here since about midday today. All bridges in Denmark closed, all rail traffic and ferries suspended, all airports closed, everyone advised to stay indoors with hurricane winds over the whole country. Mind you we are fairly used to them over here, but this one is something slightly special, and it looks as if it may continue through much of tomorrow. <grr>

Look East showed some footage in Wells tonight on a flooded street but I couldn't make out the street, if it's 5ft over the quay then that must mean all the shops at the front must be flooded out.
Got to be heart breaking if it's your business or home & there's so little you can do to stop it happening.

Apparently it has been reported that Wells has lost it's electricity.

A family friend owns the pub at Walcott.

If anyone has been to Sheringham, this photo was taken earlier tonight from just in front of the Burlington Hotel.

Just back from Southwold.Four hours until high tide and the waves are breaking over the promenade.Old cove leaning on the railings reckons there will be plenty of allotment sheds getting built from the wreckage of the beach huts.Sort of wealth redistribution from London to Suffolk.

My sincere thoughts are with all those unfortunate inhabitants who are at serious risk of losing all their belongings tonight. I hope and pray that the flood waters aren't as bad as first feared. My dad's brother lost his life in the terrible floods of 1953 which devastated the coastline of East Anglia.

Just been chatting to one of the old fishermen in Sheringham. He says he can't remember a surge like this for 50 odd years

He said he's been for a look along the cliff tops, and then had to dry out in one of the pubs <laugh>
