Sorry, but I can`t think of anything positive to take from yesterdays game, Like the Norwich game the team showed as much passion as Mark Hughes does at his post match interviews--NONE!! I can tell by the lack of posts that everyone else is despondent like I am.
There is always the chance that another manager could come in. Such as Di Matteo? Anyway managers are already being sacked (Di Canio and the most recent casualty, Jol).
Under pulis we we're on 34 points at christmas and finished on 40, so considering hughes has virtually the same **** players lets not all go too over the top. You cant be a fan on a game to game basis you have to look at the bigger picture. Last week we won 2 nil and it should have been more and yestereday we were hammered 4 nil away at everton who will finish in the top 6. Whats everyone saying matteo would do better?. Most of our players are has beens and we are in our right position in the league with the squad we have. No other manager would touch us so we might aswell accept hughes will be here for atleast the season and get behind him and the team. After all whats the alternative go to the brit booing and moaning because thats not the way I am. Im writing yesterday off and hoping we get a result on wednesday. utpsssssdss
sacking Hughes imo will definitely see us go down, all other managers mentioned need a lot of technically gifted players and we have..........................1, Arnautovic
I never wanted Hughes and I can understand why a lot fans (from all clubs) don't like him, but to state the Pulis had more passion........? Jumping up and down on the side line barking instruction like the players are 6 year olds does not (IMO) constitute more passion. Does anyone recall his monotone post match interviews with the same old excuses, loss after loss, after loss? Anyway, dire performance by all accounts but a team that sits very comfortably at the top should not by all accounts be a yard stick to be measured, however the area of weaknesses should be and these need to be addressed in the transfer window. I M not defending Hughes because I do believe that there were better options, but to compare him with TP who had 6 years at the club is not realistic and moreover Ricc makes the most logical point that TP took 6 points from 16 games (ish) yet Hughes has taken 13 from 13 - hardly fair and hardly consistent to judge them the same.
I'm sure you won't go down but you could give Hughes the 11 most technically gifted players in the world and he'll have them playing like Cowdenbeath before long.
That may well be, but unfortunately as fans we never had a choice! We had a manager that had spent every penny, created a football ethos which was practically irreversible and put us into 4 months of relegation form. With no money to spend and an ageing one dimensional team the takers for the position were few and far between!
Smithers, TP spent a lot of money. He bought in players whom he never knew how to use in his 'system.' The Coates family decided on a change given the decline in Season ticket renewals. I do not think they gave MH the same cheque book as TP! The purchases by Hughes in January may well be crucial in an effort for us to retain our position in the EPL. It is important that we get some more wins under our belt to gain some confidence. I am driving up with a full car on Wednesday so the team will be getting encouragement from us!
Let's look at this another way... I went to Goodison yesterday and it's a simple fact. Everton were top draw. Better than Utd, Chelsea and the other big clubs. Arsenal the exception. You can talk all you like about passion, naff player's etc. End product is simple enough. We were outplayed by a very, very good Everton side. PULIS???? F F sake guys we had a great start last season and then went totally belly up. Give me Hughes over Pulis anytime. Wednesday is another day, another game. K T F eh.
No he didnt..why isnt he still there then? He is f-ing clueless......a fact re-iterated by the players who have played under him! Not gonna say I told you so...but......!! Pullis had you as a force to be reckoned with........Hughes has you as a joke. Dont blame Pullis...he kept you up....easily.... i hope for Crouchies sake you stay up...you'll be f**ked if you go down. Hughes will walk and so will your players. How many years have you been in the prem...8+? Itll take you twice that to get back up with the players that stay.... Get Rid of Hughes before its to late....You have been warned. EDIT...PS..Everton aint a top 6 team. They have lost thier manager and top players. They will be fighting relegation next season
It`s embarrassing being a Stoke supporter these days. All we have is the January window to look forward to. Mr Hughes` reputation and what pride we have left hangs in the balance.
Obviously you were not around from Jan-May 2013 "force to reckoned with" my arse! Again, I am not defending Hughes just pointing out we are in this situation because of Pulis and we have to play the hand we are dealt! I agree Tent there were players who were never utilised that we hoped a new manager could turn around immediately, but we have to factor in that a lot of them hadn't played for along time and have all aged another season - it's never a like for like situation. Potts, spot on mate and like I say Everton are not a team to be measured by, they just highlighted our weaknesses that need addressing in the window! Joe - your right mate, it's not great that the window is the only potential light at the end of the tunnel.... Boom boom!
Queens lander I'm sorry but you keep saying Hughe's didn't do this that, whatever. The ONLY reason he left Man City is because another Manager was lined up, behind his back. I know cos I used to work with a few Citeh fans. There were happy enough with Hughes, some we're even gobsmacked when he left the club. Fulham I don't know but Yes, QPR he fecked up big time. Rest assured I will be amazed if Everton are not top SIX this season, best team bar Arsenal we have played this season. Oh and Pulis kept us up easily???????? are you for real look at our pts gained since Xmas last season through to May.
I say bring back RORY, he will throw the ball in the box, get RIC back and he will fire them in. Its no good all this passing, lets get back to the good old days.
I would just like to say that not for 1 minute would I like to have Pulis back. His football was dire.he had his favourites and wouldn`t or couldn`t change our style of play. He spent a fortune and Hughes has been left with a `crock of s--t.` As I have said before Hughes was NOBODYS choice but we`ve got him and, yes ,I agree with you on all your points ricc, potts smithers etc BUT what makes me feel so DOWN is that the team has no `belly` for the fight that is required for us to get out of the position we are in,and Hughes isn`t the man to inspire anyone! We can`t change him, and I hope to God I`m wrong about him . Too much is resting on this January window, I fear we are going to be bitterly disappointed. Sorry for the rant,I`m just going to the garage to get that rope which I`ll need if we don`t beat Cardiff on Wednesday!!
He left fulham for man city, you know one of the biggest clubs in the prem so he must have been good at fulham or else why would they pay millions for him?, to be honest im sick of hearing you on about mark hughes, so get your mark hughes voodoo doll and go back on your own board and concertrate on your own club
