Should be able to sign a pre-contract in Jan so can make sure we get him signed up before anyone else gets the chance as well. Just have to pay compensation which will probably be a couple of million?
You should just sign who I sign in football manager and that is currently with LOSC.... Xabi Alonso ( on a MUTHA ****IN FREE! ) Tomas Pina ( Villareal CM) Jesus Rueda ( CB Real Vallodolid) Antoine Griezmann ( AM-RLC Real Sociedad) Luis Cavanda ( RB/LB Lazio) Andreas Beck ( RB/LB Hoffenheim) Roland Lamah ( AM RL Osasuna) Jairo Velez ( FWD River Plate) We do this, we will be just fine.
Yes he is! In the game he is brilliant, then I watched Swansea play Valencia the other day and couldn't believe it was the same guy!!!!
So is that why LOSC are top of the league and in semis of CL??? Cavanda is actually decent and plays for Lazio, Pina plays for Villareal and they are top 4 at the moment in la liga. Rueda ya probably right, Lamah, Velez is good in the game but again a wonderkid.
True - 5mil is a lot for someone nearly out of contract who has hardly played. However, I believe this kid could be the real deal given his chance. The risk we take waiting till the summer is other clubs could flock in for him. At the end of the day, 5mil for a versatile young FB could turn out to be great business. If we managed to get him for 3mil(ish) then that's a real bonus That's if the rumours are even true!!
This is the main issue here. How many times have people criticised the club for allegedly sitting on their hands over supposed transfer targets? If you want to get in early then you have to pay for it. It depends on how badly we want him, but £5M these days is nothing for a quality player ( I don't know if he is, btw, I'm just making a generalisation).
£5m is a very fair place for Montoya in my opinion. Alves and Alba are ahead of him but he has been getting games recently regardless, which in it's own way shows his quality. Him and another CM would make for a great transfer window.
Bilbao and Valencia haveso much talent and probably for a good price. Hope we hit htem up for some players!!!
So any chances this January to spend that £30million that we clearly had earmarked this summer? Ie the money we were going to use to buy Costa, Henry Ryan, Willian... Any attacking players that we could realistically try to sign who would strengthen starting 11
Johnson has been poor for a few games now.. Maybe a dip in form but he needs to up his game ASAP. With his age and the wages he's on, wouldn't be surprised to see him move on in the Summer.
He's been for a while now. Lack of competition is the only reason why we 'missed him' while he was out injured.
Exactly why a young talented versatile FB like Montoya could be such a good coup. I think Johnson's main problem (as stated) is lack of competition, we all know he can be very good player, it just seems he's lazy these day as his place in the first 11 is pretty nailed down. Even a cheeky bid for Micah Richards?? I reckon if he hadn't wasted his career (so far) at City, he could have been one of the best RB's in the league. He simply doesn't get a decent run, which has seriously hampered him.
Wouldn't say no to Micah either. But this is only part of the problem - new LB and RB, DM, CM, and attacker. That's 5 players we badly need.
That would be nice, but realistically we'll get one. That's why Montoya fits the bill, apparently he's equally as good on both flanks.
He's much better on the right IMO. Having said that, both he and Johnson are versatile enough to play on either flanks so it's all good.
Liverpool FC transfer speculation today sees the Reds facing a battle if they really want to secure the services of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore. The highly rated Argentinian playmaker has been linked with a move to Anfield for some time but Brendan Rodgers is likely to meet with competition from Roma and Lyon if he is to secure the signature of the 24-year-old, according to the Mirror. The Reds have also been linked over the weekend with Dutch striker Luc Castaignos. The Dutch Under-21 star was thought to be interesting Kenny Dalglish ( Comolli tagged him) when he was in charge two years ago and, after a loan spell at Inter Milan, has scored seven goals in 14 games for Twente Eschede this season. The Metro reports that Liverpool could make a January bid. Meanwhile, a bit closer to home, young Wigan goalkeeper Lee Nicholls could be on his way back to Merseyside. The Liverpool-born 21-year-old, who was backed by then manager Owen Coyle (the Scotsman was sacked this morning) after a calamitous error in the Latics' Europa League defeat to Belgian side Zulte Waregem, was on the Reds books as a youngster before being released at the age of 14.
