As per the fighting fifth thread I am shocked that Puffin Billy has been withdrawn and aimed at the 3.15 Newbury tomorrow. I had him down as a huge danger in that and he is taking on lesser opposition tomorrow, although chatterbox is no slouch! Chatterbox will need further and ideally a fence or 2 so the 4/1 on offer looks appealing. The ground and trip suit and should be good enough to give weight to the remainder

The Irish card is fairly interesting tomorrow but as I've not had a proper look yet I'll only put up

Newbury 2.05 Ardkilly Witness 3/1

Hello all. Just one for me tomorrow 2.30 Uttoxeter Boomtown 8/1. I seem to be churning out 2nd places at the mo so am hoping for a win this time. Hasnt raced since january and is up against some heavier and more unreliable sorts but has good form and is worth an e/w punt I think.

Tomorrow looks like a who's who of who I tipped/backed last time out. Too many to mention and far too many to back on one day. My shortlist needs shortening even further but this is the first draft;
Newbury
Andy Kelly 1.30
Puffin Billy 3.15
Red Devil Lads 3.45
Taunton
King Ozzy 12.35
The Skyfarmer 1.05
Sylvan Legend 3.55
Uttoxeter
Kentford Grey Lady 1.20 if you see even money about her then have the bookies arm off!

Who's looked at the Irish card?

I've given it a fair glance. Il Fenomeno should win the first. Make A Track should easily win the beginners chase.

The race I think is interesting is the 2.10.

Shield is a forecast 16/1 and at that price he's worth an each way bet. Cheltenham bumper runner who's probably not progressed as well as O'Brien would have liked. However, the 6th LTO behind the very talented Moyle Park gives me hope that the ability is there. I'm happy to have an each way poke if it's a double figure price.

Might just be a starting point Toppy - Henderson was having a right rant the other day about the lack of races for his novice chasers - see here

Old boy Hendo thinks his current hurdling mark of 143 is Exploitable with a capital ‘E’. I guess today will go someway to telling us if he is correct and if it will be hurdles or fences for the rest of the term.

A double for me in Newbury’s 2 feature contests. Just A Par (2.05) and Chatterbox (3.15). I expect the former to take very high rank amongst this terms staying novice chasers. Expect him to come on loads for his debut run of the term. Meanwhile, as stated above the latter looks exceptionally well handicapped and capable of much better than this mark by the end of play in season 2013/14. Furthermore, both barns have won their respective races in 2 out of the past 4 campaigns so know what is required.

Good luck all.

Cor blimey, I must be losing me mind. Can’t believe I also forgot to tip up Maestro Royal in the ‘lucky last’ across the county line (3.45 Newbury). A half-brother to my old faves Heather Royal and the legendary, Barbers Shop, I think like him Maestro Royal can win a bumper on his bow. Furthermore, the barn have won this heat 2 out of the past 4 years.

In fact, if I was asked, at this stage to name the most likely winner of the 2016 CGC then I’d jolly well respond, Maestro Royal don’t you know!

i suppose after napping Brendan Case's horse at newbury , will have to do a lucky 15 just to cover my arse :emoticon-0105-wink:

1 30 Ny Call a Truce
12 45 Utt Flintham
1 20 Utt Jean Fleming

Yeah saw that Oddy... but in my view what a C**k! I mean sorry but you might have to race them against each other and thats reality... Does my head in when these trainers go out of there way to avoid the clashes we want to see and set them up for 1 big clash (usually at the festival) if we are lucky although sometimes injury even prevents this.!! Get on with it is what I say!
