Back from the game mate and we played well. N'Zonzi, Cameron, Crouch and Adam we're all brilliant today. As was Whelan. I've not seen the red card incident since the game but, it looked like Adam tried to avoid the tackle. IF everyone who's seen it again say's it wasn't well it looked a ridiculous decision to me. Sunderland played well with 10 men and they won't go down on the evidence of today's game neither will we Stoke-97. Great result and let's push on from this win now. Threre is WAY to much negativity on this board it really makes me sick! As a team we we're solid and took our goals well. Credit to Sunderland who we're harshly down to 10 men IMO. Onwards and upwards. Even Walters played well.
As Hughes has said on Radio Stoke " We'll give it out best and go for the pts" THAT is ALL we can ask for 97
You have a point Monty but we were one up before Brown was shown a red. Ridiculous decision by the way. We can argue all day about refs but most are **** as was Kevin Friend yesterday. If that's all you have to say goodnight, cos I'm not gonna try and explain his performance. It's not Stokes fault is it?
Just about to watch MOTD, from what I saw on the stream it didn't even look like Brown touched Adam, at first I thought he must have kicked out, off the ball or something. But, we got some well needed points, and Cameron had a great game, and it was good to see N'Zonzi looking determined again, he's looked rather lacklustre recently, hopefully he's back to his former self. On the downside though, Arnie hasn't really stood out in the last couple of games, and our defence still looks a little shaky.
Great result. Tactically, things seem to be `coming together` a lot more. Pushing N`zonzi more forward was a good move.
Well I went up yesterday it was on the train so was late home last night.I think I got the guys around me supporting the team. I will be back later as I must go help with the meal tonight
He didn't touch him and Adam tried to avoid the tackle, however me and my friends feel that the ref might have thought it was 2 footed, studs up tackle. Still a silly sending off.
Yesterday. First of all having seen the Wes Brown sending off again I think it was a poor decision. Game changing, definitely not. We were already 1-0 to the good and were looking the much more likely to score a second. I thought the atmosphere was improved on what I have heard and read over the last few weeks. One comment was that in the last two games the anthem of Deliahs had not been heard. That certainly changed yesterday! On the game yesterday I thought that Cameron showed how much he has improved this season. A commanding performance. Cries of USA,USA, USA should have been heard! Crouch linked play well and the set up for N'Zonzi was terrific. There was palpable relief around the ground when that went in! It was also good to see N'Zonzi set up Charlie Adam for a well taken goal. I also thought that Bego was somewhat fortunate to get away with the challenge for the ball with Fletcher. Yes he won the ball, yes Fletcher tried to pull out, but his foot was VERY high. So perhaps a booking and an indirect kick! I looked at the stats on MOTD and was disappointed that possession was shared at 50% for each team. I thought we bossed it completely for the first 20 minutes after half time and then seemed to lose the plot and allowed Sunderland into the game with some belief. Bego to be fair did not have to make any exceptional saves yesterday and although some think the defence was shaky, I am of the view that we again sat back and allowed Sunderland to come onto us. They however did not manage to covert any territorial advantage into gilt edged chances. So overall, I did not think it was a bad day at all. 3 points 2 goals, a few places up the league and enough to give us some breathing space for the upcoming match next week at Goodison Park. Cheers
Sunderland were by far the better team before we conceded the goal, and I felt it was only a matter of time before we got an equalizer after we conceded. The sending off was probably the worst decision I have saw in a long time, and the second worst came in the 2nd half when Friend failed to give us a penalty and send your keeper off for what was basically an assault. PS..I had a good night out in Newcastle Under Lyme after the game with my son and his mates who are at Uni in Stoke, which helped subdue my anger against our foe Friend..
sunderland were the best team for first 20 mins then we were getting better and better, I dont agree with you one bit about begovic incident, a yellow at worst and freekick
Same opinion here Ric Begovic got the ball clean as a whistle. And NO ONE has yet mentioned that Fletcher first half handled the ball not once but twice? Had he scored the goal would have stood. Ref was crap all game to be honest. Sunderland we're the better team for 15 mins and after that they didn't threaten our goal. Add to that, we scored before the sending off, a much deserved win. Onwards and upwards.
