I'd have been pissed beyond belief if we were not given a penalty in same situation...the keeper didn't get the ball ...
DL, the reason that there were no apologies for the other teams is because they don't get a fraction of the luck that you get. I think everybody else is now waking up to what I've been saying for a long time that you are the luckiest team on the planet. You've lived by the skin of your teeth for ages now. Like I said had Albion beaten you then a run of poor form would have followed but that unbelievable piece of luck against Albion is the catalyst for your luck to continue.
Chelsea have lacked any humility for years. A by product of a kleptocratic regime . For years since the bank rolled years the public have witnessed consistent bulling of referees . As many have said money can't buy you , love, or a large passionate fan base, dignity and class. It has bought endless trophy's , A Chinese fan base, thousands of under 12's and the best players money can buy.
All the best teams get luck, you can extend that to other sports. I watched Froch get lucky last night in his title defence. In the Ufc I saw George st pierre win luckly on points. New Zealand where lucky to stop England getting to the world cup final in Rugby league yesterday. Teams like Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City get luck but the overriding reason they get success and we don't, is because they are better and have chairman who build squads to win titles.
I've said it for many years, now, that if you take away all the luck that Chelsea have had over the years (and I count Barca failing to find the net during their CL Final - quite possibly one of the luckiest (and ugliest) wins ever by CL "champions" - Chelsea would undoubtedly be only the third best team in London.
We've been incredibly lucky this season and winning by dire penalties which a lot of you seemed satisfied with. Well we are now seeing the results of the gibberish I was supposedly speaking earlier on in the season. The poor scoring form and the luck would have a bearing later on in the season were my words. Scoring fewer at home than away was the sign for me but not for others who told me that you can't tell that way. I said at the start of last season that I didn't see AVB as a Spurs type of manager that we should have tried for Klopp or Blanc but I allowed the points tally from scratchy struggled wins like 2-0 over Norwich to sway me, I shouldn't have. AVB won't get us CL football and even if he did he couldn't live with the likes of Barca and Real and if he is sacked it'll be difficult to see who'll take him after this disaster which isn't our concern so I don't know why I'm posting it. We can only live in hope and wait and see because I don't see anybody on this site with the answers to our problems. Maybe ask Harry to come back for a short while as an interim until we get somebody more permanent with a proven record. Two good seasons in Portugal is hardly proven pedigree is it? I've no idea really of the way forward.
It's been a long time since the teams we will be playing in future fixtures will be licking their lips at the thought!
Indeed, Smithy. Teams will know that they can have a go at us and will be hopeful of grabbing a hat full, but knowing also that we can't score for toffee. Our collapse would be quite spectacular, I fear. Thankfully, there are, at least, four teams more ****e than us, so we'll not get relegated.
Out team is not ****e!! Good players don't suddenly become crap players. The problem is that they are clearly lacking confidence, direction, belief in what is being asked of them, etc. The manager must bear responsibility for that.
Here we go *again*, comparing a team that tries to run a proper business model against ManCity and Chelsea whose expenditure has absolutely nothing to do with revenue generated, and have expenses even above that you could cover by being in the CL. So tell me how you expect us to compete against that financially?
Where did I say we would compete with them financially? I'm just not one of these fans who crys over every bad decision and claims the better teams win through luck. . If you read that post you quoted, the overall point was the best teams do get luck but the overriding reason they are a success is because they are better and better run to get success. Take Southampton, by rights they shouldn't be able to compete with us considering our spending power but while money is important, it's more important how it's used.
I'm not saying Man. City and Chelsea's owners have'nt built them to win titles, but Chelsea have had a hell of a lot of luck, along the way,and are still getting it
I used to think Lampard was lucky for scoring so many goals but then you realise it's because he works hard and is always in the right place so makes his own luck. Chelsea have had luck but unfortunately they have put themselves in a position to create their own luck, yes money has helped but look at all the money we have wasted. Maybe if we used our money better we would be winning trophies and getting luck along the way.
and you would say it being a spurs fan, petulant one at that. You don't luckily win titles for **** sake.
