Mauricio was accepting in public and is probably supportive in private, but I bet he wanted to kill him at the time. However, there is nothing to be done about it...it's not an error resulting from lack of training or skill...nothing more to be done than say don't do it again.
My one concern with boruc here is all the praise and press has gone to his head once again and he thought yesterday with his compatriot in other goal he would be smart and show off. Look at me. It backfired as it usually does when he does that stuff. Hopefully that was a wake up call for him though id have thought after stoke embarrassment wind or not he would have left the showboating at home. Got a feeling he could use some serious competition or a good talking too before he goes on the slippery slope he did at Celtic. It became there he always knew he was on team sheet regardless of what is going on as he had no competition there either. At least though he doesn't seem to be ending up on front pages of papers just the back for either praise or embarrassment and hopefully that isn't coming next. History repeating itself at southampton would not be good considering how well you are all doing and he has played his part big time in that. And he does deserve the full backing of the support as at the moment he still has won more points than lost them. World class keeper and he needs to get back to that after last few weeks.
Boruc is in the right place to get support from the team and manager. However, he is going to get stick from opposition fans and, to a lesser extent, from our fans.
The tubes were an absolute nightmare yesterday! The only consolation I can take is that at least Boruc decided to try and emulate Messi in a game we were likely to lose anyway. Hope he learns his lesson. It's a shame Lallana played for England, thought he was causing Arsenal problems, shame he had to come off really.
Thought this myself. Had it just been that one goal he could have been accused of casting us a point but in all honesty arsenal deserved the win. Ironically we have been praising Boruc for his antics in the penalty area for 18 months now knowing deep down that one day it would end messily. It was a funny day all round really. Everyone's confidence dropped a bit when lover was pronounced ill but in all honesty, Jos did OK. Then we had the calamity of the first goal before we gave them a run for their money. Shaw injury, lallana substitution and Rickie not having his best game combined to make us less effective as the game went on. Maybe MP had a bad day too. Time to group for Chelsea I think!
I think he potentially did cost us a point today as it happens. Other than early first half they didn't really threaten from open play - it was two decent teams cancelling each other out. I do however think he's be excellent next week. This will have been a real kick to him.
First time I've watched Arsenal play this season. They will win the league. Saints have been playing well this season but when have no one on the same telepathic wave length as Giroud and Ozil, for example. They were magicians yesterday.
I didn't think Arsenal were that much better than us to be honest. Oh another thing, Jay Rodriguez was immense yesterday. His best game for us IMO. That maradonna and spin away from three players was great. It was a really strange game, I feel like 9 times out of 10 we'd have come away with a point playing as we did. Just didn't have any luck!
Not convinced Arsenal will win the league..... yet. Thought Ozil had quiet game to be honest. We have our own telepathic link ups, but Lambert was off it a bit yesterday unfortunately.
Yes and no. It was Rodriguez' best game but those runs of his, they just always feel like they are going to fizzle out. He has immense skill but can't play with his head up and is not always ware of what is going on around him.
Competitive game and one to reflect on the progress made by the club since the 6-1 hammering. Disappointing the goals came from mistakes but we got away with those brilliant efforts which hit the post. Arsenal were great at keeping the ball under pressure. I was especially impressed with the way they kept the ball whilst it was in the air and at awkward heights, not just along the ground. When they got in situations in and around the box in numbers there runs off the ball and interchanging made me dizzy so it must be a bitch to defend. I know watching Arsenal tear teams apart is not a new phenomenon but I know we have a well organised defence and this made it all the more impressive. Jos Hooiveld made a good point in his interview on Saints player about how Arsenal dropped back after they took the lead. There was a tactical respect from Wenger that we are not a team to be played about with and the often criticised Arsenal defence was well organised and effective. This tactical adjustment from Wenger could also be seen as highlighting a big weakness and one many posters point out and that's our effectiveness with the ball at creating "Good" chances. All teams will be fine with their opponents knocking the ball along the back line. We know from previous home games at the start of the season that we have struggled with teams that park the bus. Arsenal didn't go as far back as that but they certainly didn't leave much room in their own half. Once Lallana came off it lost our link between midfield and attack and our deeper midfielders failed to pick out the runs from Osvaldo. I think this is why we need Ramirez to be on the bench at least and then get someone in come January for this role.
Whatever MOTD pundits may want us to believe, Wilshere wasn't trying to chip in, he was clearly crossing it IMO. Ramsey was trying to score, but not Wilshere. Then again Wilshere probably deserves some credit as at least he was on his feet for a moment. Vin
Enough of harping on about the Boruc performance and my positives from the game are: - Big Vic - what a performance! - jRods best performance of the season. Not just going forward but his tracking back and support of Luke who was under pressure as Arsenal loaded up against him - Jos's performance. He had a really good game - JWP - showed what a talented lad he is by putting in a more than respectable shift in at right back after Luke went off There some good things out of a disappointing result and looking forward to getting lots of penalties awarded to us every time our players have their shirts pulled at set plays!
Corkys absence may not have been injury related, just saw a tweet that he has a new addition to the family, Arlo Cork?
Jack and Arlo... Hmm, so if he and his wife have another boy in the future, I presume it'll be called Woody..! Congrats to them.
I also thought Clyney was excellent at LB. Tbh, he could play at LB no problem. all the time if need be. He's so quick and his tackling is so good, it's not a real problem that he's not naturally left sided. Should be playing for England. At RB, of course.
100% agree with this, this is in my opinion why we have struggled against defensive teams - a lack of a cohesive link between midfield and attack. Lallana has been playing fantastically well in this role this season, but when teams start targeting him to cut off the supply (as I believe Arsenal did to good effect) it leaves us without any way to provide service for the forwards. At the beginning of the season I thought Ramirez could perform this role, but it seems more and more like this isn't going to happen, so I think we do need another CAM.
I do actually agree. Never feel too excited when he goes on these runs because he doesn't have the vision and/or finishing ability to make it count consistently.
