Exactly, 80 odd for 2 then falling to 90 odd for 8, that's unacceptable, really is, these guys are meant to be some of the best in the world, if my village team collapsed like that I'd be pissed... Need to stop relying on past glories and buck up their ideas, that goes to Cook, Trott, KP and Prior!
Trott's place should now be under threat, he hasn't contributed for too long and to edge a wide one down leg side was just ridiculous. The others still have plenty credit. Both Bell and Root could conceivably play three but I wouldn't want to move Bell, he plays very well at five. I'd be half tempted to put KP in at three and drop trott. This one is gone, no chance of not losing bar the weather and they don't deserve that break.
Can't get my head round what's happened to Trott but it was ****ing schoolboy to chase that one especially last over before lunch. As you say this one is as good as over and I tell you what, if I was one of our bowlers I'd be playing hell with the top order (apart from Carberry who played well). All summer they were bailing us out the ****. A test of character for them now. Let's see what they are really made of.
Woke up just before 4 o clock and listened in for a while, just missed the Pietersen dismissal. The next 30 or 40 mins. was mental, incredible noise at the Gabba. I think from the point of view of the series as a whole this could really set up a cracker if,as expected,Australia go on and win this test match.Lets face it,they are the underdogs in their own back yard so it will give them a massive boost to go one up.It will also push England to up their game and strike back. Great start to the series
No offence lads but today's not the best day to be taking the piss The sporting world shifted on its axis again last night which probably means the blues will start winning derby games again
No Ger, won at Trent Bridge so it was a very good start. No chance of that happening here. I agree with Organic though, really does set the series up. Hopefully it won't go on like 2007 with them dicking us five nil as we were supposed to win that one and went in rather arrogantly expecting too. I think this teams head is screwed on better though.
I know we won but after the first innings we were behind following the tailender getting 99 runs (?) so all wasn't quite as expected. We could end up winning this one yet too, you can't compare a midway test to a completed test.
I'm not sure the batsmen have even remotely got their collective heads screwed on (Bell apart). The rest of them have been poor for the three series before this. All class players but just look like they've become way too complacent. I hope they get a massive volley up the arse but then I said that three or four times through the summer and nothing's changed.
Aren't England usually quite dodgy in the opening test? Obviously this test will be close but I still fancy England to win the remaining games.
