I would ask where he realistically sees SAFC in 5 years time as his previous 5 year plan hasn't quite panned out as expected.
I would also ask if he would give back the Sky cash instead of allowing them to stream the games to pubs and clubs (yes it is Sky and not some bloke with a camcorder in the North Stand).
 
Well it is and it isnt sky.

Sky pay big bucks for the PL, they sell those rights to other countries to show live matches, to help them pay big bucks to the PL to show the games in the first place, Pubs then show the live games from those other countries and TV stations.

The Whole reason we dont get every game over here live, is because of what is happening, ppl just watch it on the TV, but because other countries get them live and its that easy to get them these days, pubs are showing them, so we are seeing dwindling attendances (but there is more to it than that i think, unemployment, Bruce, expensive for a family to go etc etc)

You rate your opinion over Quinn's - well thats ****ing arrogant if you don't mind me saying so.

Have you played in the premiership at any level, ever played professional football at any level - I'm really laughing my arse off when people trot this out, "Bruce is not a Premiership manager quality" as if he has been appointed by a novice - nobody who knows anything about football.

Am I missing something - is Niall Quinn not the ex premiership footballer?

Why do players sign for Bruce if he is not a Premiership quality manager? Why has he managed 3 Premiership clubs if he is not Premiership quality?

If you said he is not a Premiership championship winning manager I would agree.

Have we learned nothing from this season at all? Also, I'd love to know what the financial situation is for real not the made up club line that all is well. I think, like many clubs in the EPL, the money is running out and I would like to know the facts not the sales pitch. I don't mind the answer even if it were not what I would like to hear.

You would think that debate on boards such as this were disruptive in some way to the progress or stability at the club. What a load of bollocks.

I'm sick to death of people wanting to do away with free speech and the opportunity to constructively criticize events. It's ridiculous. What anyone says on here has no material impact on events at the club and has no bearing on the vocal support that our club has enjoyed for decades.

Man Utd fans wear green and yellow scarves etc as a protest against their owners. They must be a set of complete bastards their owners. They keep on winning the league and getting to European Cup Finals. They've arguably been more successful than ever during their ownership!

If you want to immerse yourself in a silent atmosphere without debate or discussion can I suggest that you head down to your local library. They'd be glad to see you! :emoticon-0108-speec:azn::azn:

I don't agree with this over the top comment either Mackemman. To label me as a "**** supporter" because I have lost faith in Steve Bruce is bang out of order marra. You may remember a recent poll on here about Steve Bruce remaining as our manager had us split us straight down the middle. So for every fan that thinks he should stay, there is another that thinks he should go.

Hurling abuse is not going to change the minds of fans that dare to disagree with your opinion of the manager, so why bother, when you have shown in some of your other posts that you can give a reasoned response to a particular topic?

Your argument is "11 games and 1 win earlier this year" well this is not the whole season is it, how many other clubs had similar bad runs - even Chelsea had a bad run - we are not alone.

The case for Bruce:-

Was tenth our best finish for quite some time?

Was Bruce at the helm when Bent signed?

Have we not had our best performances and results against the top teams in living memory?(unbeaten in London this season I believe)

Have the players that have been brought in under Bruce not been the best (on paper) we have seen at Sunderland for some time?

Okay Hendo & Bent have gone, but Bruce also brought in Gyan & Sessegnon(& Muntari but it didn't work out).

Bruce deserves to start another season on these facts alone, in my humble opinion, which is as valid as anyone else's I would have thought.

You have never had it so good yet it appears on this forum at least that your so twisted and cynical you cannot handle it - your only happy when your unhappy - no wonder we get called sad mackem bastards eh, this seems to be a Sunderland trait and why its such a depressing and second rate place, even when we do well its never well enough, our ambition outstrips what we can realistically aim to achieve, we are born to be constantly cynical and questioning.

His opinions on the "supporters" who watch the matches in pubs are well known, so why would I not ask him what does he think of the supporters who do not back his choice of manager, a manager he has backed on the transfer front - do you think he would agree with them??

I'm sorry, but it is my opnion(and I'm getting sick of the need to say IT IS ONLY MY OPINION) I think the supporters who do not back Bruce are ****e supporters and is thats 50% then so be it, Quinn would probably disagree with MY OPINION.

I did not see any mods chastising Cest the other night when he was in Dirty Harry mode - one of the mods favourites though isn't he, personal abuse okay but a mild generalization isn't?

I can back up my argument 2 nearly disastrous seasons worrying about relegation.
Bruces tactics or lack there of, leaving me and quite a few others dumbfounded

I would have no problem voicing my opinion to ANYBODY to their face.

So now I'm arrogant for having an opinion? Yes I do mind you saying, I have said this before having an opposing view shouldn't warrant abuse.
Quinn isn't some infallible being, it is possible no matter how much I respect what he has done for my club, that he can make mistakes.
Such as his ill advised goading of SAFC fans.
So now no one is allowed an opinion unless they have been a better premiership player than Quinny. (Does that not sound silly to you?)
So Bruce has managed 3 Premiership clubs!!
And done what with them exactly?
Players sign for money not for Bruce to think otherwise would just be naive.

The point is we are saying we have an opposing view to yourself but we are doing it without the abuse.
Saying tenth is our best finish for sometime, doesn't change my mind as we were lucky to finish there as it was results elsewhere that helped us to that position. We were oh so close to getting dragged into the bottom again!
Chelsea apart most of our wins we were lucky to scrape them.

There's no doubt Bruce is going to be in charge next season.(Unless something drastically changes.)
Once again SAFC will get full backing from our great supporters, but if Bruce doesn't step up his own game tactically I don't think he will get that support.

Bearing in mind Martinez has just turned down Villa, who would we get to replace Bruce, taking into account we have just sacked a manager who guided us to TENTH in the premiership despite the injuries(which some blame on Bruce hello, HELLO) despite Bent being sold, who would want to come in and manage us knowing that if they did not improve on tenth place 50% of the supporters would baying for his dismissal?

Did I say you could not have an opinion - just grow up will you - I value Quinns opinion more than yours and giving you the reason why.

He kept them in the premiership, Wigan finished higher than they ever have, h brought in players like Palacios, Rodallega, Valencia, Cattermole.

A prophet is seldom welcomed in his own land, and that is what we have with Bruce.

Dear me, we were lucky to finish TENTH we were damn close to heading for one of the relegation spots a couple of weeks previous to the end of the season.
As you don't seem to be able to respond without being personal this 56 year old lifelong SAFC supporter shall trot along and GROW UP and leave you in peace.
 
looking back now though, we were actually safe from the drop on the 23rd April, 5 games before the end of the season, we had 41 points when we beat Wigan 4-2 3rd bottom went down with 39 points OK hindsight is a great thing, but for me it was nowhere near close.

The one thing i was suprised about, the year before we only scored 48 goals and that was with bents 24, last season we scored 45 with bents 8 (i think it was) but we let in the exact number of goals in both seasons 56.

If we had the poor run at the beginning of the year and teh good run at the end would we be having this conversation - it seems all the good work at the start of the season is just forgotten about - I prefer to look at the full season

Damn lucky would have been finishing 9th(which we would have done if Villa had not got a result), we would have been damn unlucky to get relegated.

56, your the same age as me mate - I will refrain from any further criticism in any shape or form, however do you always takes thing so personally though?

I'm not "chewing your arse", I have no "blue eyed boys" and I don't think I have "double standards". I simply took offence at you calling me a "**** supporter" nothing more, nothing less. You are obviously going off on one tonight, so I will end this discussion with the following explanation.....

I have to confess that I have not read any of the 31st August thread before. I, like many others, got a bit fed up with all of the various threads, following the news that Henderson was leaving, so I didn't bother reading them all.

It's too big to read now, but I will read it over the weekend. I can promise you that I don't side with particular posters on here. My views may be similar to some, but that is where it ends. I do my best, but I can't be on here 24/7 because I do have a life outside of this forum. It's a bit like "after the lord mayors show" to comment on the thread that you have pointed out to me, but as I've said, I will read it and if necessary, I will have a chat with the other mods to see where we go with it.
 
ok Dorset, yes I was irritated when I used the term "****e", however believe me it could have been a lot worse - probably fuelled by the post I gave you the link to.

Perhaps I should have used "disillusioned", "dissapointed", "unsatisfied" or "disgruntled"

I will amend my post and I apologise unreservedly to those offended, I do not think your any worse supporters than those who support Bruce.

Sensible response mate.
That is what gets up my nose, actually agreeing with someone when it goes against the grain on here now seems to make you be part of a clique.
Take Cest I don't always agree with what he says, but I do agree about Bruce and Sunderland not moving forward.
And I'm not talking about statistics I'm talking about what is actually happening on the pitch. Where for the majority of last season we were tactically ****!
There seems to be quite a lot of rose tinted glasses sold with the tickets at the SOL the last two years.
