I'd say that Boruc has improved massively over last year. He was appalling in his early games and was dropped for a while as I recall. Even towards the end of the season, I never felt he was "safe" even though he was clearly a good shot stopper. This year he has been excellent all round, his handling of crosses, for example, has been exemplary. I don't think you can over-estimate the calming affect on the defence when they have absolute faith in the goalkeeper. Whether or not this has any impact on the Cork/Wanyama debate I don't know!
http://www.fulham.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=339068 He's been linked with Fulham today....Lazy journalism? or no smoke without fire?
He was linked to Fulham toward the end of the transfer window, but he'd be silly to go their IMO. Sidwell and Parker look like two very frustrated footballers at the dross and lack of energy around them. We're about to hit the intense part of the league season where the players won't have time to recover from niggles. Also yellow card suspensions get picked up. Cork will get a match between now and the window and it will be up to him to see if he can hold his place.
Plus Cork is said to be very happy indeed at Saints. He's going to play a very important part in this season, of that I have no doubt. And he can't do that if he's off elsewhere, so no chance.
Footballers all want to play, but sure Cork will get some game time. There are other factors though...he is well paid, has a home here, trains during the week with his mates, the team is doing well and excitement is in the air. Why would you uproot yourself to play in a struggling side just on the off chance that you get more game time. This story has no legs.
