Portugal just about deserve their one goal advantage at half time in the tie. They had alot more of the ball in the second half but Sweden defended very well. Ronaldo's header came from probably the best cross of the game.
Well this game has summed up England and Hodgson. In a game where, rightly or wrongly, we were favourites, we've struggled to break the other team down and after conceding so early ruined any chance we had to going on to win the game. The game against Germany will suit Hodgson's "underdog" tag he likes where we can sit back and defend, allow Germany to try and break us down and then try nick a goal. We may get battered for 80 minutes but if we come away with a draw or a shock win, it will be hailed as a brilliant performance by all. I said a while ago, Hodgson may be good for England in the WC as he likes to set up his team as an underdog and try and nick games against the favourites. If we get a tough group then we may just go and do that.
He's such a good header of the ball,the diving header was well directed and he hangs well when hitting the woodwork.Ibra will be dangerous back in Sweden.

I hope he plays v Germany. Deserves more than 1 chance in which he had no chance with either goal and did ok for the rest of the game.
Ronaldo shows his class again then. It's a great header, full of awareness and athleticism. Thought Lallana and Rooney did well. Glen was decent too. They all tried to play smart. Hendo was good when he came on. Very tidy and looked to burst forward. When will he start a game? Lampard has brilliant technique but England seemed to miss Gerrard's drive. Barkley looked okay as well. Seems to be part of the next generation of England players who want to use the ball.
Maybe could have stood bigger but one on one it's a guess... Anyway, he was never first choice but I agree with biscan that getting another game would be good but now it's a gamble. Screw up the fragile second or fragile first choice keeper against Germany. It's a mile away anyway with the PL. Wait until May to see who survived the pit.
Chile are a good side and we played a weakened side with a few first caps. I think the Germany game may show more as we will play a stronger team. I do think we should arrange a few more friendlies against south american opposition and play our best 11 before the world cup or it could be an embarrassing tournament.
