Just heard that Nolan isn't re-newing his Necastle contract. Getting on a bit but would be great support for Bobby. Worth a punt at around £4m?

From my own point of view I hope not. Bolton fans hated him and would have been happy to drive him to Newcastle themselves. Not sure what he did but he wasn't man of the year up there.

Also can you imagine if he scored and did that bloody chicken dance toward the corner flag at the Hammy End.....

Not for me. Too old for one and is the type of player I've never wanted to see up at Fulham. At the quoted £6 million there are far better options. His team mate Barton for one.

Barton is one of those players who attracts a lot of hostility, which in itself is a reason to be cautious. If you judge him purely on what he delivers on the pitch, he'd be a fine addition to the side and a perfect replacement for Danny Murphy's aging limbs. When you consider the other factors, it's less of a clear cut decision. Also, as with Nolan, his wage demands wouldn't be cheap. Good player though, very good.

Rocky, you seem to have forgotten a few of our own rough and tumble players. Michael Brown for instance, and certainly Danny Murphy.

I think Joey Barton is about as far away from being Fulhamish as is humanly possible.

Diop was no psychopath. Micheal Brown, on the other hand, so glad when he left.

......some of the older faction may remember Paul Went - he is i think the "toughest" (dirtyiest) player I've ever seen in a Fulham shirt.

I saw Paul Went when we played Santos, Pele and all, in the 70's. He was a big tough centre half, but tougher than Bobby Keetch? Not sure.

Ah, as all our favourites one day must, Paul Went.

Can't think of a pun for Keetch. Sorry.

Back to Kevin Nolan - rumour has it that Jol has made an approach. Fulhaman is right about his stupid funky chicken thing but given his nack of getting goals can we afford to tell him to get stuffed ? At the right pright price of course. His wages will be high (nowhere as much as Keane though) and remember we'll be saving a fair whack in not having to pay for the Hughes coach hangers on.

...did you just compare Joey Barton to Danny Murphy?

I'm indifferent. I don't think he's the long term answer and we still haven't shown signs of addressing our most urgent weakness - fullbacks.

God alive - Joey Barton. What club in their right mind will sign him - waits for West Ham to throw their hat into the ring...

Bobby Keetch for all those Fulham 606rs,was a larger than life a bon vivant,
sartorial poseur, whose other life away from football was, as he once described,
    far "more enjoyable up West."
I often saw Bobby when i had an office in Chelsea in the 70s,and by then the good life certainly had got to him.
A very charming inofensive character, who viewed football as a means to an end, never reaching his full potential,
but sadly missed by those who remembered him.
