I do think that the Stoke player should have been sent off as he did raise his hand to Chico's face and make contact but I think the play acting saved him. Rangel should have also gone for what looked like taking a swing at a Stoke player late in the game. Awful decision for the penalty though, but if it had been us I'm pretty sure half of the jack board would be over here telling us it was handball. Unless of course it was pgf who only seems capable of telling us to **** off and calling us names.
It did look a bit dubious in fairness, but they seem to be inviting pressure in the closing minutes of games all too often lately. Chito Flores is a liability and was responsible for one of the goals conceeded.
Refs tend to stick together. No doubt Madley was asked by Mike Dean to get them. The thread subject is about another matter though, and seems to have wandered off into the "penalty" incident. You cant compare Chico and Bothroyd. Chico is trying to get fellow pros sent off and is a disgrace. That penalty decision is far from disgraceful. Ball on target hits Routledges arm hes got a decison to make. First time I saw it I thought a clear penalty. Sky pundit just backed the ref. Harsh penalty after seeing the replay but far from disgraceful. If Rangel hadnt jumped with his hands up there wouldnt even have been a decision to make. What was probably more to complain about was the ref allowing Stoke to retake that final corner. Anyway the Jacks are running out of refs. Everyone is out to get them it seems.
The ref couldn't have seen the ball hit his arm because it didn't, therefore he shouldn't have given the penalty, penalties shouldn't be given on what is thought to have happened. Bothroyd spent a lot of time on the ground, so does chico, hence the comparison, I don't think I said anything about Bothroyd cheating though.
