Are you sure about that? Are you really??? I dunno, to the untrained eye it would certainly appear that you WANT him to fail, and that I find really, really sad.
i think a lot of his power has drained out of him. sad to see but he misses his assistant john robertson
McNally probably earns in a week what I earn in a year it's not my remit to go out and identify the right candidate. I'm not going to name anyone regardless BTW as I would rather avoid one of your put downs. I wouldn't mind Glenn Hoddle though, if we could persuade him. How would you feel IF that was to happen?
i agree and this is of great concern to me because there do seem to be a few people who are hoping we lose on saturday. i don't personally think kickitoff is one of those, but it doesn't say a lot for some of our fans...
He's not and wont be the last manager to go in to decline because he lost his 'working' partner. Look at Brian Clough as a prime example, as good as he was, without Peter Taylor, nothing he did was ever the same.
you can't name anybody because you have the same problem that we ALL have - in that there aren't any stand out candidates who make you think 'he's better than hughton'. would i want hoddle? i think he's been out of management for too long now. if he was appointed i would get behind him, as i would anybody. i like his philosophy but you do have to ask the question, why has he never been appointed by anybody before? there must be a reason for it. out of all potential english managers though, he'd be one of the few i could get on board with
It's actually only in the last month or so that I've totally been anti Hughton, I never wanted him to fail, he just has failed IMO, if he turns it around now it really will be one of football's biggest achievements
but how has he failed? tell me how he has failed in a job which is supposed to be a long term project but is only 16 months in? he was given a three-year deal. is it cos of last season? but we finished 11th. is it because we are 18th now? but does it really matter at this stage, league position? is it cos of the style? but it can't be because that's been getting better. is it cos we haven't scored enough? how has he failed as norwich city manager? in all honesty, and i've thought this for a while, but if hughton does leave this season i think we'll approach celtic for neil lennon because celtic are virtually out of europe and mcnally, you'd expect, would know him or at least have ties to him. he might look like a 'winner' and have a good record but he's an absolute 'see you next tuesday', has no managerial quality and i simply cannot stand him. awful, awful man.
I would NEVER want us to lose you're right and I tell you something else, IF Hughton turns this around I will start a special thread on here so you and the other pro Hughton brigade can give me dog's abuse. I give it out so I have to be prepared to take it
Why are people stating that we require someone with charisma? Im pretty sure has no less charisma then Lambert had. Who cares if they have charisma or not when talking to the press
i don't want to give you 'dogs abuse'. i want to know why hughton deserves so much grief for guiding us to 11th last season under difficult circumstances, and has now brought in some very good players and is working on making us better?
No just Premier League football next season. I'm going to contradict myself here a bit because if we were watching this dirge AND getting results I, like many others wouldn't be clamouring for a change just yet. Fact is we're not getting results
right, so you'd accept tony pulis if it meant (no such thing but) guaranteed premier league football next season? why are you so sure we'd go down under hughton? he guided us to our highest league finish in 20 years and has bought well. we've had a tough start and a lot of key injuries but we are far from cast adrift. i just don't get the vitriol. he just doesn't deserve it!
when fans now say its 'all about results' having spent all last season saying the complete opposite, or come out and abuse him for his press conferences or anything like that, it really does show how hollow this desire to oust hughton is. its almost as though people find it fun to want him out, as though its a sport to them, like fox hunting or something cruel. a bit like the press with any england manager... very weird
Now come on, there was a real chance we would get relegated last term, if it hadn't been for WBA not turning up that day we probably would have. If we had needed a result at Citeh on the last day do you think we would have got it? We'll never know of course but I would wager that we wouldn't have done, especially if Citeh had needed something from the game. It really was a close call and we were lucky, very lucky that neither side needed points and were 'on the beach'. As far as working on making us better, tell me what green shoots you see because I must admit I'm struggling to see any.
Barney & Holt playing for Wigan tonight 1 o down to Rubin Kazan in the Europa Lg on BT Sports.....Still seems weird watching Holt in Blue/white stripes....
