Right, first time buyer and I don't have a clue. Trying to save a 15-20% deposit for a house, is this reasonable? Looking for a flat in the 100k region. Don't want the mortgage payments to be sky high, wanna be able to live a little you know. What is an average cost for bills and food, council tax etc per month? I know it can vary but I can do without luxuries like Sky etc
The bank will have no problem giving you an 80k mortgage on a 100k property, you'll probably pay the lower end as they do deals for people who can put down 20%+ (less risk) and an 80k mortgage is **** all really. I pay 60 quid a month rates for my house in Belfast which had a similar value when I bought it, not sure if Glasgow is more expensive. As for bills and food... do you live with yer maw now, how do you not know how much these things cost already?
Well be prepared to get skull ****ed. If you're wasteful with gas and electricity the bills will hurt your bank balance. If you can stand the cold a wee bit and no leave tellys and **** on all the time then you won't be affected as much Council tax varies beale. You'd need to know the band to get an accurate idea of how much it was gonna cost.
Was very helpful actually, you could take a leaf out of his book. Please dont reply with a racist comment.
They will unless he has a decent job. Shop around Beale, sure there will be lot's of different offers available.
I'm in the highest band for my area as well beale. Mostly because the rest of my areas a ****e hole but because I'm in a new build they **** me over a lil extra
Dont buy a new build...council tax is more expensive. If ye want a "flat", try n get a four in a block... you get a garden! 15% deposit is reasonable and will give you a good rate/deal. Dont get Sky. Get lamps, dont use the main lights. Get a combi boiler. Shop at Lidl/Aldi and Farmfoods for stuff bog rolls, washing powder, bread, milk and tins (of tomatoes, beans etc) Get a landline - helps yer credit rating. Get on the electoral roll.
What is it "mortgage" means again? "death lock" or summat like that I think? My secondary school Latin coming to the rescue again
