Our u18 and u21 are not having such a good season as they did last year...though I believe we play a young U18 side. It was mentioned on Liverpool TV that we were fielding youngsters. Also we have moved youngsters on quicker than other teams.

when you consider that some teams would have Shaw, JWP and Chambers still playing in thier youth teams, you can see why our youth teams may struggle. Sometimes its very much men against boys, but the club have said its now the policy to concentrate on developement and not results.

Yes, it occasionally bothers me when I see the youngsters losing their matches, but then I realise that the best of them, ie. the ones who really make the difference, are being plucked away to go up a grade far earlier than other clubs might promote them, eventually to turn out for the first team. As can be seen from the League Cup match, there are one or two academy players who are just below the surface, almost ready to come through.

Good job nobody is challenging Rickie..! :)
