We need to beat West Ham on Saturday.Quite bizarrely the bookies have them at 10/1 to go down. Our recent performances Citeh apart suggest that we could do it.If we don't I think Hughton may be history.

I bet Delia delivers the kindest, most sensitive sackings, though, with cake involved.

Can't see Ba and Carroll working.

I can. There's not much playmaking ability between the two of them (not that West Ham play the ball anyway), but they've got Nolan as the transition between midfield and attack, both Ba and Carroll have aerial presence, and Ba is quick and can play wide. They seem to tick every box.

That will make for good MOTD Hansen analysis. That line they draw between strikers to show how close good) or far away (bad) they are playing from each other - a 700 or 800 mile long line from Ba in London to Carroll in Holland or Belgium or wherever he is.

Ba has excellent positional sense and he does an excellent job of latching on to knockdowns...now, whether West Ham (who, by their owners' telling, are up against the pseudo-cap) can afford his wages is another matter entirely.

Andy Carrolls recovery has been delayed due to stomach problems. "Poor Andy was in a terrible state when he was admitted to the equine medical unit" said local vet Budley Salterton MRCVS. "We suspected an acute bout of colic, caused by either too little hay or anti inflammatories given because of his injured hoof".

In other news, how many times have we Saints fans been sweating on the imaginary "safe" target of 20 points by Christmas? Well, just look at the table:

Position Team Played Goal Difference Points

1 Arsenal 10 13 25
2 Liverpool 11 11 23
