Wanted to put this up early as I think Keltus is a cracking bet in the big juvenile race at Wetherby. Despite being green he was very impressive at Chepstow and I think he will have the beating of these. He looked a very strong traveller and really pinged his hurdles and for me this is a horse going places - potentially one of Nicholls stable stars this season. This is easily the best juvenile hurdle of the season so far with some very nice types but Keltus could turn out to be a little bit special.
Elsewhere on an action-packed Friday we have flat racing from Newmarket, Wolverhampton (AW) and Dundalk (AW) and National Hunt fixtrues at Uttoxeter, Wetherby and Down Royal. Oh yeah, and later on there's Day 1 of the Breeders Cup from Santa Anita, with the interesting races starting around 8PM UK time.
It's a cracking card at Wetherby and already in race 1 Oscar Rock will be a headline attraction as one of last season's leading bumper horses makes his hurdling debut and it will be interesting to see how the move from Harry Fry to Malcolm Jefferson has affected him. Division 2 of the Novices Hurdle is no less interesting with many of the leading yards represented, including the forum's favourite trainer with Rally, who should not be lightly dismissed with Bazza G on board. Geraghty also has good prospects in the 1.40 on Pippa Greene and in the 2.10 on Cantlow although I do like Noble Legend in that race.
Over at Uttoxeter there is a sumptuous novice chase with Colour Squadron, Raya Star and Tanerko Emery facing off, whilst the bumper should go to Wilde Blue Yonder.
AP McCoy takes a break from chasing his 4000th winner in Britain and goes over to Down Royal to ride Jezki for JP McManus - should be a steering job.
