Fair enough. Wouldn't be my choice but there you go. The merry-go-round we dont have to be a part of though. If our managers leave no reason we have to pick someone who has failed elsewhere. Not sure how some of them keep getting jobs.

Answer is we get Brendan Rogers, and Jol goes to Liverpool <ok>
They sing his name every week as it is " Jol never walk alone"

this is the problem with my two nominations. i doubt they'd be tempted to manage norwich to be honest. both are attractive though because they are both counter-attacking coaches and i think they could build on hughton's work and the players we already have. if we were to go down a totally exotic route which is a polar-opposite to hughton, we could end up in a really unpleasant mess. there has to be some form of continuity, even if the manager is different. tuchel for me is the only promising manager in european football who i can think of who we might be able to attract. he is young, tactically interesting (not radical, more astute), talks multiple languages, and has taken a small, provincial club to punch above its weight. i agree with others who say there is no point picking up a manager who has failed in his previous job. we should cherry-pick someone doing well. again, it limits our options still further!

haha yeah that is usually the poor excuse they use. Most of them have experience of getting relegated. Not sure thats a good thing really.

i imagine if hughton left tomorrow, the main contenders would initially be these:

    mackay
    lennon
    pulis
    holloway
    o'neill
    mcleish

scary - i wouldn't want any of them!

currently working at ajax. never been a manager. far too risky imo

in fact, he'd feel more like a publicity stunt than a managerial appointment

Mike Phelan is an interesting one? Bergkamp, isnt he assistant to Frank De Boer at Ajax? Might be worth a massive gamble (only because i liked him as a player)

The other question is how much experience does a manager really need? I would say increasingly it is becoming more and more a young mans game in terms of management. Maybe because they are learning new improved training methods? But I would not be against an appointment with not much experience, as long as the have a good philosophy, team around them and a sound character. Not just a publicity stunt for a former player.

I would be more than happy to give him a crack, highly intelligent player. I know that does not always equal a good manager, but all the same......

Better the devil you know and all that. CH will go though if he's losing still by December, I can't see DM having any choice as the pressure from all fans will be too great. I hope we start winning, I really don't want us stuck with those lemons.
