Right lads, just so you know I am being deadly serious and I reckon im gonna be slated for this but for me, Anton Ferdinand is the best centre back partner AT THE MINUTE for Bramble.

I can appreciate the arguement for Turner, but Mensah and Bramble had no linkage. Onuoha for me is wasted at CB and Anton has the best range of passing, speed and tackling for the position. The worry obviously is his mistakes but once he gets a run i the team I always thinks he improves.

I dont understand the Ferdinand haters? Could someone explain this to me?

i'd keep him, he didn't let anyone down last season but for him being the number 1 choice to partner Bramble is open to debate, especially if we sign Wes Brown

He makes too many howlers. So many howlers. Portsmouth a couple of years back and Arsenal at home spring to mind within thinking about it for five seconds.

    This!!!

The number of times I've seen long balls float over his head for opposition forwards to run onto isn't funny.

He has the odd good game far outnumbered by the bad ... championship. :embarrassed:

I personally prefer him to Turner who can't pass a ball 5yrds and is painfully slow and weak. I think Anton at the moment is decent cover, but I imagine the club are gonna let his contract run down.

Turner is our best centre back by a mile so we should be looking at the best partner for him when he is fully fit...which is bramble

Turners reputation has been damaged by playing the games at the back end of last season when he was not match fit as he was god awful then.

I like An ton but he seems the defenders equivilent of Kennwyn and always seems to think he is his brother.Laid back, unrushed, calm and controled but not asgood as he thinks he is.

All that said I hope we keep in because he can cover all back 4 positions.

Ferdinand...Arsenal vs Sunderland....deflection of Arsenal players' shin into goal...sums up Anton really, nice guy but just accident prone.

Still, he has improved and good stock player for the squad.

One chance asamoah, you're the only guy i've seen on here who thinks the same as me - that Turner is our best centre back. He was really poor at the back end of last season, as you say, but he's much better than that. See the Spurs game at WHL where he was truly immense and was right on form in that period. Many ppl seem to have wrote Turner off, i still see him as 1st choice and wouldn't be looking to replace him at all. except he is injured, like.

Don't think too many doubt Turners defensive abilities (or am I wrong?) ... for me it's his distribution that lets him down, 90% of the time ending up hoofing a long ball up field. Maybe this was down to our midfield giving him no options though??

Hmm I've just decided I'm undecided on Turner.

Thought he was mainly solid to be honest not problem with Anton in the team for me but then again not exxactly at every game so the heads on here know more than I

Before the injury I was changing my mind to inspored signing, playing like a man possesed. If he gets a pre season and a run of game hope to see that form again.

    Turner for me,

you have to remember that before turners injury against Everton we had one of the best defences in the league so bramble and turner for me

although i might have to reconsider that if we were to get roger johnson from brum

and as for ferdinand, good squad player but to inconsistant to ever be first choice however his loyalty to the club is refreshing to see for a londoner, he never moans, never has a bad word to say about the club or area and is a credit to himself in that area

Anton very rarely has a run of games. I thin he does a good job considering.

Also, at away games he's always the last player on the pitch clapping to the fans.

i totally agree with both of you, Turner for me is a definite starter for me when FIT. His distribution isn't good but as a defender i think he is top class, not afraid to get hurt wins more headers than he loses. I just hope he can start to score a few from set pieces like he did at Hull, mind that will improve once Henderson isn't taking all of our set pieces.
