Racing on Tuesday comes from Exeter (NH), Yarmouth (flat) and 2 AW meetings at Kempton and Lingfield, Kempton being an evening meeting.

Some interesting runners at Exeter with forum favourite Kentford Grey Lady making her chase debut in the 2.40, Paul Nicholls saddling his first runner for the prolific Elite Racing Club in the opener (Lumpys Gold), a decent looking Novices Hurdle at 3.10 and a bumper full of unraced 3YOs to sort out.
 
16.40 Exeter- The Potting Shed- 5/2

Got off to the perfect start over fences , beating the second place that day by 6 lengths, will have the cheekpieces on again which seem to work, he has the scope to defy a 9lb rise in the weights on just his sixth career start also the stable is in red hot form, and is the one to beat!
 
Evening all.

Just one again for me tmz.STOMACHION 4.20 YARMOUTH (7/4). Promise in three maidens before winning on handicap debut off a lenient mark of 68. Up 6lbs but left the impression that there was more to come. Will handle the ground and the extra furlong should suit. If he goes in watch out for Kastini in the 5.30 at Lingfield. Travelled better than Stomachion last time out but just went down by a length with the two pulling clear. Return to Lingfield should suit and 11/4 looks a decent price. Will be leaving that race alone though just a pointer <ok>.
 
A rarity that I drop in for a foray into the midweek punting world but I am having a touch each-way tomorrow in Exeters 3.10 so wondered if any of you had an opinion.



DREAM DEAL (12/1 tissue) was 4th on its one and only bumper start, staying on nicely after struggling to go with the leaders when they quickened up markedly. No shame there though because the Even money 2nd that day, CHASE THE WIND, also got caught out by the change of speed and could not peg back the winner, but ran a storming bumper when 2nd at Cheltenham on Sunday, shaping all over like an unlucky loser in on paper a hot enough bumper affair.

Dream Deal galloped all the way to the line with just hands and heels encouragement in that opening bumper and looked a nailed on improver, especially in a truer run race that we ought to get in this bigger field tomorrow. I'd also suggest a bit of cut in the ground would not go amiss with this one judged by its action, as would a step up in trip eventually. However, I felt there so much greenness that he wold iron out that he would be a seriously lively contender for the Jeremy Scott yard, who had MELODIC RENDEZVOUS 2nd in this race last year behind the super talented but utter nutcase MR MOLE. The Scott team know how to ready a hurdler and if he handles the obstacles well tomorrow I think Exeter will suit him, especially if we have had the rain down there like we have here today!

Looks cute to me Toppy - got 12-1 with Betfair for a fiver - I thought it would be rude NOT to :D
 
Only concern I'd have with that one Toppy is that he was due to run over 2m6f at Wincanton last Thursday so clearly suggesting that he needs a trip at home already.

2.20 Yarmouth Gold Approach 6/4 6th on debut in 1m Newmarket maiden finishing well once the penny dropped.
3.00 Lingfield Spiritoftheunion 10/1 Half sister to Windhoek in a fairly weak looking race.
3.10 Exeter Minella Friend 11/4 Point and bumper winner bought for 90,000.
 
Am such a clutz was backing sticks bunper on betfair had 20 on it only 18 got matched so had two left and accidently pressed the lay button at 7/1 for my last two pounds! So i have just eaten away atsome of my profit if he he wins- such an idiot

Morning, troops. Does everyone want me to bore them silly with my reminisces and anecdotes about the ‘Elite Racing Club’?!? Please, please answer, no.

I think the old groundsman is putting a few people away in describing the underfoot conditions at Exeter today as ‘good to soft’. Are they like the Cheltenham groundsman who describes the conditions in exactly that manner, on the first day of the Festival, no matter what?!?

Nothing for me today but Mr Henderson runs Forgotten Voice in tomorrow’s Geelong Cup (for the uninitiated that’s in Australia). I’m mentioning it today as it’s off as 6 am (UK time) tomorrow morn! Old boy Gosden won the race last term and its a very rich heat with prizemoney of $300,000. Forgotten Voice almost certainly needs to win to get into the ‘Melbourne Cup’ so expect a very strong bid for success under old boy, Brett Prebble. He’s very short in the market though – around the 6/4 mark. Those Aussie punters obviously hold Mr Henderson in the same high esteem that we do therefore!

Where&#8217;s old boy, Oddy?!? Has he seen who&#8217;s been entered in Sunday &#8216;Pertemps Qualifier&#8217; (more plots than an Agatha Christie novel and all that)?!? Cor blimey I&#8217;ve only just changed me avatar and may now have to change it back!

I'm still asking myself what Jeremy Scott is up to with Empiracle. Still no entries, and my e-mail to Holworthy Farm requesting an update appears to have fallen on deaf ears................ Alan King's team is far more helpful in that respect.

The Monet's Garden Old Roan Chase on Saturday, splendid name for a race btw, hopefully another grey, Mr. King's Walkon, will make the line up and bring back memories of old.

Afternoon all.

Money seems to be coming in for all the Tizzard runners at Exeter today, particularly in the 2.10 Masters Hill is in to 7/4 and in the 4.40 Milarrow in to 9/4 from 6/1, causing the favourites (highlighted by Oddy & Wooly above) to ease somewhat in the market. Could be meaningful. or just give our lads a better price for their winners. We'll have to see I suppose.
