Your head will be on the line as Moderator Dave But in all seriousness, it's a shame that these incidents still appear happening and I'm sure that you run a tight enough ship over here that any playing 'silly buggers' is quickly dealt with.
When will we every get rid of these morons. Racial abuse is both sickening and offensive. Unfortunately it does not stop at a persons colour, I have friends who are from Eastern Europe, who are University educated and working in high profile jobs who run this gauntlet of hate on a regular basis. I am well into my 60's now and had hoped that this fear and mistrust of fellow members of the human race would have ceased years ago. Sadly not to be.
Nothing has been proven yet! What I really do not like about these stories, is that they are not actually stories when they quote "A Norfolk Police spokesman said police received complaints on Saturday of a racist remark posted on a fans' site and confirmed they were investigating". Why do I not like these stories? Just cast your mind back one week and the crap that was being spouted about Roy Hodgson. Too many people are too eager to make something out of nothing, so until it's proven - it's meaningless
Got to agree with thai on this one, its like having a headline 'Norfolk Man wins Lottery' and then underneath stating he hasn't checked his ticket yet! If there is something in it, hopefully the idiot who posted it will be dealt with with the full force of the law.
No I'm pretty sure it was a WUM on a facebook group I'm a member of. Some of the members posted they'd report the guy who made the initial comment. In all honestly I think it was written in an attempt to add a tad of humour to try and lighten the situation, but unfortunately came across in the opposite way as blatant racism.
None of you who think it's the fb incident have read the very first line of the report! This is a NEW incident!
i've not seen the incident so no idea what was said but lets be honest, the level of abuse and vitriol aimed at hughton is pretty distasteful on twitter and facebook certainly and i suppose some forums will be similar (not on here i'm pleased to report). by making the abuse racist just takes it up a further notch. some of our fans aren't very intelligent, are they...
There's a growing number who want Hughton out because of current league position - including a few on here, but resorting to racism to enforce the point is barbaric verging on cretinous behaviour.
I think you need reading lessons! Opening line it says "new allegations" and para 3 says "following an incident on facebook"!
I quote... "Police are investigating new allegations that online racist abuse was directed at Norwich City manager Chris Hughton. A Norfolk Police spokesman said the force received complaints on Saturday about a comment posted on an unofficial fans' page on Facebook. It follows complaints earlier this month about the alleged racist abuse of the football manager on Facebook. A Norwich City spokesman said the club had been made aware of the matter." I read that as a second facebook incident. And as I remember it the perpetrator posted his racist comment in the FB group around Thursday or Friday last week so this suggests they're referring to that particular comment. But looking at the big picture, irrespective of where the comment was made it has no place in football. And I too am getting mightily p****d off at the increasing minority who are vilifying (not sure of spelling!) Hughton in whatever manner they see fit. Be careful what you wish for.
JK, rudeness not intended, that's why I put a winking smiley, I assumed you replied without fully reading the article! Now with the benefit of hindsight I can see how it may refer to new complaints about the original post, although that would seem a little strange!
as i've said before, hughton cannot win. when hoolahan isn't picked it's 'where's wes?'. when he is picked it's 'why is wes playing?' the fans who are dead against him a couple of weeks ago said: 'his subs were too defensive and he always makes defensive subs which cause us to be under the cosh'. this week its: 'his subs are too attacking and cost us the chance to win the game'. if we lose its his fault, if we draw its his fault and if we win, there's an excuse. they have an agenda, simple as that. one or two on here also have an agenda, others sway one way or the other depending on what they see each week (nothing wrong with sitting on the fence), while most are a bit more patient and look for reasons why things go wrong or ways to put things right. its the people who have agendas who do my head in because they will always make an excuse.
I was afraid of this and it is starting to seriously worry me. We are getting dragged through the dirt here by some of our own fans. I've found the group in question on Facebook and it is a veritable treasure trove of twatishness, right bunch of ****ing morons. Quick glance through and I see ed butterworth on there. That's all I needed to see really, sums up the calibre What a knob Literally had enough
You're so bloody rude Dave! Ever since I moved from Bristol to London you've had a vendetta against me!
