According to Sky Sports, Ken Bates has said Norwich can put their £3.5m offer for Robert Snodgrass where the sun doesn't shine, always thought it was dull in Leeds! (Unlike Norwich where the sun shines to match the yellow of the canaries shirts)
I've just commented elsewhere about this, I don't think Snoddy is any better than what we have already, so Bates can shove his suggestion up his arse to stop him talking out of it
3.5 million for Snodgrass ?, what would you guys realistically value Grant Holt at ?. With most clubs looking for proven goalscorers do you not find it strange that Grant has not had a mention from anyone?. Not sure what kind of contract he's on, but as we all well know a football contract means Jacks##t today. Be interesting to see your squad next season, plenty of attacking options, midfield could be a problem, certainly need a couple of class defenders. No nasty responses as you are now my 2nd team, after all thats gone on between our clubs i'd like to see you do well in the Prem.
If we get bennett, which is really likely, do we really need snodgrass as well? both play on the RHS of midfield. I'd rather we paid £3.5m on a really good defender than £5-6m on Snodgrass, to pay for Ken Bates' pipe snuff. It's true you don't get much for £3.5m nowadays if you are looking at goalscorers at the top of the championship or bottom of the Prem. Shall we put in a cheeky bid for Bechio as well just to wind him up?
The way prices are supposebly, with the fact that holt is a prem player with plenty of goals in the championship and league one, and going to have his first proper season in the prem though being 30 i would value him around the 6-7mil mark but nearly everyone would dismiss that straight away but i would like to hear facts or that reason!! If hoolahan turns it on in the prem like he has done for us constantly for the past 2 seasons he would easily be our most valuable player and if snodgrass is worth supposebly 5-6 mil then hoolahoop would have to be worth near the 10 mil but i would say hes worth 5-6 mil atm...
When you say "he's no better than any players we've got", do you mean is he as good at doing his job as your current players are at doing their jobs? If so, then as far as I'm aware you don't really have any wingers. Snodgrass is a winger, and since you don't have any that automatically makes him better than anything you've got. And Bates does right saying that, Leeds aren't a selling club
I rate Snodgrass and think he has shown what he is capable of in Leeds' big games against Premiership opposition. I also have complete faith in Lambert's judgement. It sounds like there is some posturing going on by Bates so hopefully this time next week the deal will have been done.
That seems to me what Bates is trying to do, Max. I said somewhere else that I reckon we'll go back in for him, up to around £4 million, but we won't get drawn into any bidding war.
Bare in mind we haven't sold any starting 11 players since Fabian Delph. When Papa Smurf says we're not selling he usually means it.
He may well mean it as a total 'hands off, we're not selling', but it just seems more sensible to knock back bids quietly, rather than make a public show of it, unless it's to generate interest. In the end though, Bates is in a win win at this stage. Either he sells and gets more than the last offer, or he dosen't sell and Leeds still have a very good player for next season.
"You've more chance of seeing a leprechaun in a norwich shirt mate!" Have you not heard of Wes Hoolahan?
I am quite happy to put my money where my mouth is and say I guarantee next season Robert Snodgrass will be wearing the all white of Leeds United. You heard it here and feel free to embarrass me if I'm wrong, but I will not be. If there's anything anyone with a brain knows about Leeds United, it's that we are not a selling club, and we never have been. We keep hold of our best players (Y)
