after watching last 2 england games and seeing the style of play based manly on pace does anyone think ricky fits in or is he part of plane B if things not going well ? got a feeling he will not make it ,hope im wrong
In the lap of the Gods...he was selected to do a job during qualification. Hodgson will start looking at all potential squad members...he mentioned today that he will look at youngsters (presumably in the u21s). We will not win the World Cup...does he take old stagers and hope to do the best he can or should he be looking to the future? There are other variables as well: Rickie's form, other strikers available, style of play. If he named his squad today I would expect Rickie to be in it, but there is a long way to go until the tournament.
I reckon he'll go, but never get to play. Unless he's brought on 29 mins into extra time in readiness for Penalties.

There's a long way to go before the plane seats are taken, what he has to do is play well for Saints and score regularly. Lots of twists and turns to come.
A lot will depend on what sort of season he has for us. If he scores loads of goals, especially from open play, he will obviously have a much better chance of making the trip. You can be sure that he knows this, and will be giving everything to help both us and himself.

If he and the team play well he has every chance, along with Clyne, Lallana and Shaw. However only Clyne could be more than a reserve
I think he should go, and I think he probably will. But he will probably go as a plan b and not see much game time. Based on his performances for England, Sturridge shouldn't be starting but his form for Liverpool has been superb. Despite a heavier reliance on pace in a large proportion of England attacks in the last few qualifiers, there were still a lot of dangerous crosses coming in from Baines which Rickie would lap up.
Providing he keeps his form up he'll go. He's a better all-round alternative than Andy Carroll in that he can add thought, vision, touch, and a great pass, to the penalty area domination. I don't think he's a shoe-in, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't go.
