Ten years ago today we sat comfortably in the top six with a well organised team without many obvious "stars"....
The following decade has been probably the most remarkable in Saints history and would make a very good film!
What has been the most unthinkable thing to have happened that you couldn't have imagined ten years ago?
I never thought that that I would ever see Saints go into administration and on the brink of liquidation as we had been the epitomy of "the well run club" since I had started supporting the club.
It was also unimaginable to me that we would ever be playing in the third tier of English football.
If you had said that we would one day spend £36 million in a single transfer window and have a current England AND Italian international striker I would've said that you were crazy.
Now I wonder what is in store for the next decade, with the rate of progress that the club is making, who knows what might happen next?

I think it was pretty imaginable for Saints to start to decline as money became increasingly important and we continued to never have any.

I never thought we'd win the Champions League, especially with that rousing 4-0 performance. Oh, that hasn't happened yet, I'll book mark it.

Tbh it should have happens years ago if it hadn't been for MLT. I know he's been a bit of dick lately but if he hadn't of kept us up we wouldn't even have st'mary's and dare I say it no NC! I wouldn't have minded if they had named one of standards or whole stadium after him :)

Without a doubt my most unthinkable and happiest saints moment was Lambert playing & scoring for England. To see my league one hero bang one in in front of millions of people made me so happy.

The straight promotions, the day out at wembley... The whole decade has been an incredible ride as a football fan to be honest. We are lucky to support saints.

    I like the style. :)

If you're a seasoned Saints fan you have traditionally hoped for the best but were prepared for the worst. I know that it's the same for many other club fans, but we're Saints fans and it always appears worse to us. So when Saints were relegated, that wasn't unthinkable. When we were relegated for a second time, to League One, that was into the bounds of unthinkability. I had never envisioned us dropping that far. Plus, in the short time the real possibility of liquidation came, the more I was believing that perhaps Saints weren't a club worth saving. Perhaps nobody cared that much. It's a different case to Portsmouth. They have had years to generate the fans enthusiasm and money. This essentially, came out of the blue.

Then Matty appeared with Pinnacle, and I know I shouldn't be ungrateful, but my abiding thought was, oh gawd, not tyre-kicking mediocrity and a slow demise. I wanted it over if it was going to be over. Then the truly unthinkable thing happened and the rest is history. Not in my wildest hopes did I think that Saints would be saved so brilliantly. The present owners fit the club so well it's as if the past never happened. They have managed to obliterate, pretty much all my bad memories from 2005 to 2009. That's how good it has been so far.

When I read the word 'unthinkable', all I could think was Cortese leaving. This must never be allowed to happen.

I was going to mention that scenario in my post, but I couldn't bring myself to type it out. ;)
