He was moderate in 'Remains of the day' with Anthony Hopkins, but other than that he was severely limited in the acting stakes.

I was thinking the same actually - watch Star Wars, Rocky and all that now and a lot of them are not exactly cinematic masterpieces but they were great when you were a kid.
Because it's one of the few films where you can understand above 50% of what Stallone is saying?
He doesn't say a lot, to be fair. "

He played the part of a pathetic sap (a real stretch for sure) and completely over-stated the 'physical acting' in the final scenes.
