VDV got 1 and made 2 on the weekend, pretty good goals too.

I think its because BT Sport chose them for their Saturday fixture at the start of the season before we had qualified fro EL group stage

Once they were moved to Sundays becuase of EL games, BT decided to maintain their commitment to televise but at 12pm on the Sunday

There are 14.05 and 16.10 fixtures on both of those dates which are presumably being shown by SKY also

Sir Bill Nick took over 55 years ago today.

Or yesterday. Depending on the time difference. To me, I mean. Bloody Kagoshima...

What a class act, I still have vivid memories of his performance away to the goons, cool from the spot.

Grew up in Lewes, my old Granddad started taking me there to watch the footie when I was 4. First game I cried my eyes out at half time and ruined the match for him. Fortunately he persevered. I went to school just behind the Dripping Pan. As it goes my old Great Uncle Alf was a Sutton United fan. You should beat the current Lewes side, a shortage of cash has destroyed the side that got them into the Blue Square Premier a few years back. The club is owned by the fans now. They have been in free-fall ever since although I think it's beginning to level out. Come on you Rooks.

that's right and each round is worth vital money for a lot of teams including Sutton, plus getting to the 1st round proper gives you a chance of league opposition

A reminder today of how quickly things can change in football. Back in May, Martin Allen took Gilingham up as champions. Today he is out of work. Crazy.

Bizarre decision. You have to question whether some boards even know what they want.

I think the chairman at Gillingham can be a bit of a hothead and I think Mad Dog has a sharp tongue, so guess they was a clash of personalities. Still thought he deserved longer in the job.

Paul Scally didn't give full credit to Allen for it, he publicly credited Andy Hessenthaler aswell who was still at the club as a DoF, he'd built the squad previously as manager then moved upstairs....nice!

Best goal this weekend that you probably haven't seen? The Faroe Isles with a real coupon buster which cost someone I know nearly a grand:

Lovely technique and good build up play, too.

You've been drawn away to Hemel Hempstead, who have our former youth player David Hutton. He's an attacking midfielder who we released about 3 or 4 years ago. He went into Glenn Hoddle's academy scheme, did well and Hoddle got him fixed up with Hemel.

Yes 3rd away draw for Sutton,Hemel are top of their league with ten wins and a draw, but in a lower league.Should be a good game,Sutton will have to be at their best, but Jamie Slabber is now starting to score goals.Sutton have played them before, along time ago in the Amature Cup winning 3-1 away.Foulkes Sutton's other ex Spur, also went to the Glen Hoddle academy, like Hutton

A good month for anyone who enjoys reading football Biography's with two of our most iconic figures, The Ledley king one is a book I'm most looking forward to reading as King was always a quiet man, not one to talk to the press much, so be interesting to hear his views, not just about his injury but if he ever believed he would leave spurs (or if he had chances to go) as I always wondered if his injury problems meant he stayed with us (not that I'm complaining).

Redknapp biography, clearly going to be an entertaining read, although Redknapp has spent his life through the media and much of his career and stories we all know, yet definitely worth the read to hear his view on certain situations that took place not just at spurs, but also before.

Then later in the month there is the Fergie biography, another book that should be an interesting read as over the years Ferguson has always been one for "what happens in the dressing room, stays in the dressing room", with him now retired I would expect him to speak fairly openly and for a man of his experience and success he will be able to set the record straight on certain incidents, not to mention understand what made him react the way he did, as often we never fully understand managers just by seeing their reactions after a game, and while these books are telling you one side of the story, I'm expecting a fairly honest account of his career.
