Sunderland will step up their interest in Birmingham duo Craig Gardner and Roger Johnson when Jordan Henderson is sold.

The North East club's England prospect Henderson is bound for Liverpool in an £18million transfer.

And Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has identified midfielder Gardner and stopper Johnson to bolster his side.

Brum are holding out for big money for Gardner, 24, who bagged 10 goals this season.

The star is a born-and-bred Brummie who grew up supporting the St Andrews club.

But he could be tempted to leave City following the club's relegation to the Championship.

While Johnson, 28, is hankering after a move as he feels he deserves a new contract.

If we could get Larsson, Gardner and Johnson for the cumulative fee of around 13 million it would be outstanding. Thought Johnson was younger than 28 mind you.

 

Good signings but still lacking a bit of quality, I mean these guys did get relegated last season.

There's nothing wrong with signing players like this, but they need to be added to a squad with some existing quality. We are not Wigan but Bruce is managing us as if he was still at the JJB or whatever it's called now. N'Gog - perfect signing for Wigan.

 

I think they would definately make us a stronger team and Gardner would add quality.

Not sure if signing 3 players from Brum would happen though, although Larsson is a bosman. Garnder would be my first choice as he has goals in him but some of the prices we are hearing from Brum are ludacris, £14 million for Johnson & £10 million for Gardner! Not at those prices

 

no problem with them 2 but it would have been better if there were additions not replacements

 

Johnson is a quality centre half but lost his way without Dann next to him which ultimately got Birmingham relegated. I'd definitely take Larsson. I've heard some days he looks like a top class midfielder but others he looks average. He's looked very decent recently and has an outstanding freekick. Gardener i'm undecided about. He has scored a very respectable amount of goals for a midfielder but has he got the quality other than just a good shot? Not sure.

 

Nice for Larsson to say he would snub Arsenal and the mags for us !, i don't know much about Johnson though, but we need a big 'get at them' defender or 2.

 

I would be happy with those and i think Jerome maybe worth looking at he caused us trouble when we played them last season
