#OurJourney is a new social media feature, where the club will post regular media content online that documents Saints' rise up the leagues and back to the Premier League, via the medium of YouTube.

I decided to post the initial entry here, and if people like the concept, I am happy to keep this thread updated as the feature continues.

Four years ago on the 9th of October 2009... Saints won 3-1 at Southend.

Let me know what you think.

I'd love this, but I occasionally pop to the archives and watch highlights on the Saints Player anyway.

I'll usually do it if someone mentions about a moment that has happened a few years back in League One, or something like that, and I'll see if the moment is in the archives. Invariably, it is. That tends to spark the interest into watching other moments, like watching a few highlights involving Papa Waigo, for example. All good memories.

I love the concept, but I have to say when anyone (usually a sandal wearing Buddhist vegetarian) mentions 'their journey' I usually want to reach for a gun. I will refrain in this instance.

Just watched the reverse fixture, through the archive. Last match on the 09/10 season, and Saints had won the JPT but missed the playoffs. Over 25K watched Saints beat Southend 3-1 again.

We were keen on 3-1 then. It's still my favourite scoreline, to look back on, because it has something for everyone. I know Poch would shake his head at that and want those opposition scores to remain as zeros. Logically, I can't argue with that, but the 3-1s were fun.

Ah, the days of 3.1...usually we even teased the opposition by letting them score first. I had completely forgotten Trotman...in fact I still can't place him.

A couple of weeks ago my lad put the JPT final on the DVD player. Amazing how short a time ago and how much has changed. A pleasure to watch it again. Anyway, 3-1? My red and white nostalgia glasses remembers the 5-0 and 5-1!

Talking of journeys, I just read the thread the night before Adkins was sacked in its entirety. What a thread.

I found it interesting reading this...

Nicola Cortese: “Mauricio is a well-respected coach of substantial quality who has gained a reputation as an astute tactician and excellent man manager. I have every confidence that he will inspire our talented squad of players to perform at the highest possible level.

“He also shares my belief that the most successful clubs are built by nurturing young players through a development system that provides a clear path to the First Team, thereby creating a culture that keeps them at the Club for the long term. This is an approach he has employed with great success in the past and I look forward to him bringing that experience and expertise to Southampton.”

This season feels so strange I knew we would make it to the premiership at some point. I knew I would have to get used to us losing most of our games again like before whilst battling against relegation. Now we are grinding out wins without even playing well :/ hopefully everything gets back to normal against Man United.....

Having gone through that thread now, and kept an eye on the time-line, I have to say I'm really impressed by the posters on here by how quickly they hauled their emotions around. I have to single out PTF, who quickly found his feet and was back to a clear thinking, positive stance. It did show me once again that, although we were disappointed/shell-shocked still, we were all looking forwards within 24 hours, and by the time the media got wind of our disappointment/shell-shock, we'd mostly recovered.

Good thread and well worth wading through to see the change in posters reactions and comments.

Our rapid turn around had more to do with our trust in Cortese and our fear of losing him. We all knew that Nicola was more important to us than any manager. Was also helped by Nicola's tactical genius of sacking Nigel just before a mini-break giving us a few days to adjust to it.

P.s. Just noted my comment about not wanting to see a Saints manager stumbling through a press conference in broken English....the reason why Mauricio won't risk speaking English is now apparent :)
