http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6970701,00.html? Not even going to attempt to spell the name... but it is backing up our thoughts that we seem to be going for the best of League One.
He's not a bad player, has his moments, but i'd hardly call him the best of League One. Had a good start at CUFC, but has become increasingly inconsistent and mistake prone.
No chance of you getting Magnus unless you bid a considerable amount of money. Plus, even then, we finished ahead of you in the league so he might not want to leave.
I understand you finished higher by a couple places, but in my best unbiased approach- we are still seen as a bigger club and possibly a step up. Much like Sheff Weds- finished below us, but they are seen as a bigger club. Don't know much about him other than when we've played. I actually would prefer that guy you had on loan the season before, Batth.
Don't be naïve AlexManu, our ambitions, wage budget, stadium, attendances, fanbase and history are far higher than Colchester's, and they're worth a lot more than League position in a single year. Not interested in signing another error prone CB tbh, would much rather keep Llera. At least this shows we have money to spend though.
Fair enough, I never said you weren't the bigger club, it's just a matter of who has the better footballers. But anyway, you said you wanted Batth. I remember that kid being really good one game and completely ****e the next. He seemed really nervous when someone was running at him aswell, but you could see the potential when he was playing. Plus anyway, Magnus would be replaceable for Colchester if you bought him, I would suggest that the U's would just sign Nathan Clarke as a replacement. But as I said before it will take a nice sum of money.
am very surprised that we are being linked with anyone as I thought all our remaining money was to be spent on the new scoreboard please log in to view this image
I think most players in L1 are replaceable. It's a league where the balance of the squad is more important than individuals. I think Magnus is one of many players we are bidding for from League One clubs, so it could be we now move on.
We started off early with a nice bang in the signings department but have since been found a little wanting in failing for a couple more. Money talks, thats the bottom line. Harry Kewell has been released from Galatasaray and is open to playing in the australian A League with the club that offers the best lifestyle choices being the deal closer apparently. If charlton were able to offer 2-3 million per season he might hear us out ! Is their much to do in charlton ? hehe Seriously though, would anyone be keen on harry, whats the feel regarding this aussie from you lads ?
Magnus is an average league 1 player at best! Big, strong and quick but error prone and cant play the ball along the ground. Plus he's been injured most of last season!
I was very excited when we signed Gibbs- came with some glowing recommendations. Believe he is back playing football in the US? Good luck to him, I thought he was never destined to kick a ball again.
"I think most players in L1 are replaceable. It's a league where the balance of the squad is more important than individuals." IMO, that's a key statement SC. How many outstanding individuals did we see last season - very few. How many well ordered, methodical, star-free sides did we see last season - plenty, and some played very neat, effective football and after the game was over you still couldn't identify a single player that caught the eye. Life in League One - let's get out of here - fast.
Agree with that Tewks, the only 'outstanding individuals' are the ones who end up in the 'Team of the Season' at the end of the year, i.e Llalana, Mackail-Smith, Pilkington, Bennett, and if any of these 'oustanding individuals' don't play for a team who get promoted, then they just get snapped up as soon as the transfer window opens by a team at a higher level.
Hi Guy's, my first entry on here since moving across from 606. I believe we will be linked with quite a few players who are probably unhappy at their present clubs. Especially as we have some lolly after the sale of Jenkinson. I have also read in the papers this weekend that Palace want Racon, I don't know if this is new or old news with you guy's, but apparently he's availible on a free.
