Have to be absolutely honest here. When the male voice choir sang at half time. They did a rendition of the Bladon Races as we were playing Newcastle. Some of our SO Called fans, mainly in the Gold member seats which were opened to them as the Toons didnt sell their allocation, started booing and whistling. There was me thinking we had progressed as a club. However after that i have to say. We still have alot of SCUM professing to be Cardiff fans.
 
What the **** are you on? Some fans booed a toon song and they are scum? Are more or less the whole of the Ninian Stand and the Canton End scum as well for booing the Toon players as their names were announced?
Stop making a song and dance over nothing. Personally, although I didn't boo I though the rugby choir was a huge mistake and sent the atmosphere down hill faster than a stolen car. Whoever booked them should be sacked for sending City fans to sleep and inspiring Toon fans.

Not sure about scum but certainly a very poor show by those who booed - and it was not just from the area mentioned - it occurred all along the Ninian Stand and probably the Canton End but I couldn't hear due to what was going on around me.

We have had many compliments from opposing fans who have appreciated the efforts made to make them feel welcome and dispel images of our past. This should have further enhanced that and was appreciated by the Newcastle fans who sang and clapped along.

Okay the timing could have been better - perhaps before the game rather than at half time when we were 2 - 0 down - but there was certainly no need for such bad feeling.

To be honest I thought the choir singing Men of Harlech toned down the great build up we have seen in previous home games and that wasn't thought through properly either.

The Geordies went a bit quiet when we got back into the game but overall I thought they were a credit to their club and made for a good atmosphere.

The booing was also a reflection on the Treorchy Choir and I don't agree with that. Boo the Geordies by all means but not a greatly respected local choir.

As we have both said though the matter was not prooperly considered and played into the away support's hands.

I agree. There's being nice to away fans and then there's being too nice. We want them to feel safe not comfortable, the intimidating nature of our ground is a factor that could keep us up this season.

The choir was a very bad decision (nobody around me looked remotely interested in it) and took up the pre-match time that is normally used to get the fans warmed up.

In the right setting the choir would have been fine (Millennium Stadium)but not at CCS. Personally I thought they were boring. The club cocked up yesterday and ruined the pre-match build up therefore failing to get the home support up for it.

I wouldnt have booed. But come on scum for booing a Newcastle song. Not really.

Put it this week we are playing the Jacks in 4 weeks.They put that curly haired muppet on the pitch with his giant leak and he gives a chorus of hymns and arias would you boo. I would.? I reckon 20,000 of us at least would. Would that make us all scum?

Boo or chant during a minutes silence and yes scum.

Booing Bladon Races - perhaps they shouldnt have done it but why sing it ? We are at home.

I have to be honest, it made me chuckle more than disgusted me. It was obvious what would happen, and no one around me seemed to have a problem with it...but I know what you mean!

There was a bloke in his twenties a few down from me, on his own, who every now and then would jump from his seat, and shout the most outrageous obcenities at the ref and others. He clearly had a problem, and I wondered who could employ him. He got himself wound up big time, however on 38 mins, he left his seat and never came back until 5 mins into the second half...didn't understand that!

What gets my goat is how many times you have a bod, leave their seat and want to pass you...up and down I was...reminded me of my love life! :cool:

He probably went to the bar.

I had a pint in the ground yesterday. £3.80 and it tasted like terrible. However bad we were 1st half I wouldnt have queued for another pint of that stuff.

Hilts, I assume that's exactly where he went, but how can you be so involved in the 37th minute, then go to the bar in the 38th, maybe it's just me? :cool:
 
Think "scum" is a bit harsh, but don't agree the choir is out of place. I love hearing the Welsh choirs sing and but each to their own. Choirs are associated with Wales and the land of song, then rugby but equally at home in a football stadium. Just my opinion of course.
 
Scum is very harsh.

I was disappointed people chose to boo but I don't think the score helped that situation. The atmosphere was far from ideal for people to be open minded about it.

I didn't like choir experiment but that wasn't the Treorchy boys fault, so I clapped them off as they did a decent job.
I'm not sure about the idea of serenading the away fans and hope it doesn't happen again.

Treorchy male voice choir is one of the best in Wales but since the '70's Welsh choirs are associated with Rugby as is most of the old Welsh Hymns.

As a Rhondda choir they were bound to sing Cwm Rhondda, who thought of singing Bladon Races half time, I think got that wrong.

As far as Men of Harlech there are a few different ways to sing it, they should have been given our words and sung it with us as normal.

Not around me it wasn't, it was a very angry reaction. Which was sad but it's a free country and they can make whatever point/protest they want. There were as many sat around me shaking their heads as there were booing.

What I will point out to the OP is that the ones near me booing were ST holders not gold member yobs as implied.

I just find it a sad reflection on society in general. Perhaps its me personally. But i stick with my original post, we still do have quite alot of undesirable fans, my original ST's in the new stadium were in the Ninian stand quite close to the away fans and at the back, The six of us who were up there lasted in those seats 10 minutes and asked to re alloctated, for very obvious reasons. Its a game of football at the end of the day, which is supposed to be recreational enjoyment.

That's where I sit, don't worry though, I wont take it personally.......<laugh>

To be fair there are a few around me that make me cringe from time to time. There's one fella behind us that can be racist, sexist and homophobic before we've even managed to kick off. I've spent my life surrounded by Truck drivers (we've got a family transport business) so I'm pretty thick skinned though.
 
Yes i was in the RN for 25 years and believe you me, i have seen it, done it and had the tattoo, perhaps a better way of putting it across would be. There are some people who attend our home games, however football comes a poor second in thier priorities.

it's even worse at away games. Perhaps it's because we're squeezed into a relatively small space, but there's some right ogres
