Rubbish!

Tevez, when he was banging in goals for fun a couple of seasons back, named the best English defender he ever came up against, and it wasn't Rio or John "hang 'em high" Terry; it was Dawson.

End of.

Cool story.

Ronaldinho - World Cup/Champions League/Serie A/La Liga winner, someone with a bit more pedigree in the game - named John Terry as the best English defender he's faced.

How could he possibly have played against most English CBs like Tevez? He may have been a better player, but his experience of playing against EPL defenders can't compare.

That fat lump? He probably likes him because he thinks he makes those choclate oranges. Plus he scored from a Ronaldinho freekick.

I raise you, Thierry Henry rating King the highest :emoticon-0103-cool:

It was a disappointing performance from Daws after being rewarded with a new contract. But his wasn't the only bad one, today. Where was Defoe or Siggy?

Its not Defoes fault if the manager doesn't play to his strengths, as for Siggy we know he doesn't offer much over but has chipped in with goals yet the only person who deserves blame is Avb, as he should be aware of issues before kick off.

The whole team looked disjointed today. I don't know if that's all down to the manager, or if it's our own expectations running away?

Better than Rio apparently.

He is. One bad game doesn't change that.

When's the last time anyone has even seen Rio play well. There are a number of times Dawson's played well just this season, I'm not sure I even saw Rio play well at all last season.

Specifically what should we do differently to play to Defoe's 'strengths'? It seems to me that AVB has got the best out of Defoe. Unfortunately the best is well short of what is required at the very highest level.

Give him the ball all the time around the box.
Try to drag opposition players around so his umpteen shots on sight
can at worst not be deflected and only go straight to the keeper.

Defoe's strengths? Play a big, unselfish frontman alongside him. I'm still not convinced that he can play the lone role against decent opposition, though this game wasn't down to him.

He can't. Harry tried it and we all know how that turned out.
