I can certainly confirm the David James rumour. Harry was desperate to bring James in when he first arrived. Levy was understandably, reluctant to pay big wages to a keeper on the decline who also wanted a relocation package. As it happened, Harry and James had a fall out and Harry dropped his interest. Dom"t know anything about Davies or Heskey, but he was certainly after Rogwr Johnson. His wife comes from Ringwood in Hampshire and Harry was certain he could tempt the player to relocate closer to his wife's preferred location.
SC, when you retire, you can write a book, the secret coach, and reveal all the info I'm sure you're too professional to currently reveal.
According to Moyes he can play for England and the FA are trying to get him to commit.......to wasting his international career.
Apparently the lad has turned down call ups from the Belgium youth teams as he wants to play for Albania
I know, if he had any sense he would play for Belgium. With the talent they have they could be real contenders for some international trophies in the not to distant future.
The problem I had with Redknapp's transfers is that, early on when he appeared to have full control of transfers, he signed players he tossed them aside after a year or 18 months. There was a lot of money spent on Corluka, Keane, Palacios, Crouch and Bassong. At a glance I'd guess they averaged about £10mill each so that's £50mill he spent and then changed his mind on. I wouldn't argue with the results he got with them but if I was Levy I would have had that in my mind when he suggested players. Not so sure Remy counts as proven either and if I remember rightly they wanted £18mill for him and he has a heart problem which makes him difficult too ensure.
No chance, all their best players play in the premiership which means they will have the flair and talent knocked out of them.
Speaking of Johnson, he and Dann were an immense centre back pairing at Birmingham, it surprises they've gone down the leagues since. Another centre back I remember Harry speaking about was Tomkins and I was really hoping we'd sign him as I rated him too.
Yes you cant argue with the results he got with such players aside from a few that never worked out but ultimately my point was about Redknapps judgement on players, is actually quite good and I mentioned Remy as most said he wouldn't score in this league but so far hes showing he has the ability and im sure there are other players Redknapp wanted yet couldn't sign. As for changing his mind, sure that happened but that happens at most big clubs, players are signed and over a period the manager loses faith or sees a better option, its the risk factor of transfers which is why Redknapp and levy clashed and ultimately meant Redknapp had to go.
We're fans, we're allowed to talk **** Anyway, £18mill was a lot to pay especially for someone who, if I remember rightly, may not have even been insurable(or was that Ba?).
Apologies Boss, I think I missed your point. Yes, I agree he did have a good eye for a player. Parker was worth every penny just for his first season where he was immense
There are a lot of deluded Gooners on the BBC Footy "live" page telling us that Arsenal will win the league. None of them seem to have factored in that they've had the easiest run-in of fixtures since football was invented. It will all go Pete Tong when they get a run against some decent sides. I can see them struggling against WBA today, too. Having said that, I do think they will finish top 4 (originally, before they bought Ozil, I predicted they'd finish outside top 4).
I haven't seen the match or MOTD, so don't know how right it is. Did ManC get a dodgy penalty, and Everton fail to get a more likely penalty yesterday? This is what their manager said, so would like other opinions.
Everton certainly should have got a penalty, Nastasic tackled Lukaku and got none of the ball. Was a needless tackle as he was going nowhere. Mac City's was soft but I can see why they gave it. The defender did pull Zabaleta but I thought he went down very easy.
Lol...dont say apologies! I knew you thought Redknapp had a good eye for a player but its a fair point you made about the cash factor in terms of Redknapp changing his mind. As for talking ****e!! I think we're all guilty of that at times!
