    Another day, another name.

Most of the ones' mentioned apear to be unemployed managers. Whats wrong with going out and nicking some other club's bloke if they're up for it?

We wouldn't part with cash to improve with real quality so doubt we'll part with cash to buy out a manager's contract.

Yep, thats clearly the way it is at the minute. But I think its already been proved at our club and many another that you can't run a big club on the cheap. If you think you can then you're probably in the wrong business.

I understand you need to have a solid infra-strucure in place and we now have that, but you can't have that at the expense of the team or the manager. Otherwise all the non-team investment will be for nothing.

Surely you can't be considering Tony Pulis? As fans it's the game we fall in love with first, as in the sport, football. After that it's the club, nobody ardently supports a club yet hates football. Tony Pulis is Mr Anti-football, he tries to suppress the game as part of his tactics; he cannot comprehend the entertainment factor in sport, it is simply all about the objective and even then, if he was that good at 'getting the job done' he'd've been manager at a much more prestigious club than Stoke, I can think of one in London who don't seem to value the entertainment factor at all.

Imagine some of you lot taking your young kids to watch Sunderland under Pulis and expecting them to fall in love with football and support Sunderland? That's how you end up with emo goth kids, they'll rebel!

Unless it's escaped your notice mate, were in a bit of a sticky situation right now. Bottom of the world; 1 point from 6 games and conceding 3 goals a game currently. We need some anti football to go with our ****e football. Pulis under any other circumstances would be a major no but right now he may prove a good short term sticking plaster.

That's our dilemma. Do we go quick fix for this season and to **** with long term style or go for Poyet who might struggle short term but who will bring better quality game longer term.

I'd go Poyet but wouldn't be devastated by Pulis for all the reasons given.

I agree, and I would be prepared to put my hand in my pocket for this if I were Ellis. Problem is, who in work would want the Job? Jol maybe? He could be sacked soon. Any secure manager who would improve us I can't see being interested.

That's a fair point Cest but that's assuming he'd be brought in as a quick fix. Although I'm assuming as well, I'm assuming he'd go for Stoke Mk2, which I could never pay to watch as a football fan.

Pulis left behind him at Stoke a legacy of drink culture and player power. Not to mention a **** football philosophy and no experience whatsoever of coming in and saving a club in trouble, I know the last can be said for most of the linked managers but they don't carry the other negatives imo.

He's the last manager in the world I'd want here.

Speaking of Pulis, Mark Hughes seems to be doing alright. Despite to a man, being thought of as being worse than rubbish.

Some of your players are going to be away on international duty until the 17th October then two days later you have a long trip to Swansea. That could be the reason you're not rushing into making a new appointment.

I've backed R Meulensteen with hard cash now, wishful thinking maybe, I just want the guy to get a job!

Well like MrRAW I will be supporting SAFC long after the next manager has gone.
Just maybe a manager none of us want may just work. We have had Keane, raised the profile of our club, Bruce, initially did well, O'neil, pleased most people however all ultimately failed.
Pulis would keep us up imo. Mcleish possibly, Poyet, no experience in EPL but intriguing.

The common theme is we all want whats best for SAFC so, f*ck this "I'll throw my season tickets away", and lets support whoever gets it. I cannot honestly believe a manager takes a job on thinking "f*ck this, I'll fail here and get a nice handsome payout". So lets all back whoever is brought in.

Utterly fecked off! It feels as if we have been cursed if the likes of Mcleish and Pullis are being interviewed for the job. The season, with PDC, his aspirations and beliefs, had so much promise; now each weekend starts with that horrible sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and the results so far have ensured that misery tumbles right into the following week. I've been 50-years supporting Sunderland and there have been many, MANY ups and downs, but this really, really takes the pissh. It is a case of 1 step forward 2-years back!! ...........:emoticon-0183-swear hard as it is atm, I am trying to KTF.

I think im one of the few that would seriously consider pulis, we are terrible at set peices and hes the manager avalible who would stop us being so ****e at them. We're conceeding left right and centre from corners and free kicks and its pissing me off. My only concern would be gaic's involvement in the team, a talented little itialian isnt exactly pulis type of player, but he's terrific and has to stay.

Yes, we are conceding from set pieces... And, yes Stoke were great at them...
    BUT...
Pulls hand picked the 'thugs' required to do the job for him.
He isn't gonna be able to turn 'fannys' into 'thugs' in my opinion.
O'Shea couldn't be as rough as Robert Huth (even with 12 pints of Stella down him?!)
