When he left for AC Milan, he'd just finished a brilliant season at Arsenal and he left a big hole in our MF. Now he's back and proving that he's started where he left off with us four years ago. Biting in the tackle and full bloodied in his play, he offers us exactly what we need, a player who rallies the troops and shields the back four. I've said before that we've never really properly addressed the DM position since Flamini left, I never thought for one minute we'd remedy the situation by having the same player back in there again. But Flamini has been brilliant for us since his return. Great piece of business by the club
We've needed a player in the Flamini mould since we let that french chap go to AC Milan a few years ago. Can't remember his name. Mathieu something. On a serious note, are we the only team to replace a guy with the same guy we were trying to replace?
Agreed I think he probably would have been captain if he'd stayed. As it is he's showing all the qualities of a captain now
I have to admit that his performances have surprised me and picking him up on a free was a superb piece of business, if Fellaini was sold for £27m then Flamini re-joining us has saved us a similar amount, and given he was a free agent it also proves that AW sees things that armies of scouts across Europe didn't. He'll never be a favourite of mine after his money driven exit a few years ago (on the back of his money driven move to us from France), but I've been impressed with his committment and his engine is as good if not better than it was 5 years ago and long may it continue. I am however resigned to seeing him spend his fair share of time in the stands, 3 bookings already.....
Holding midfielders pick up a lot of cards. Even Arteta picked up a few last year, and let's face it Vieira was no choirboy. Good job we have 3 or 4 solid options there now.
He's gotten even better since Arteta returned. Pressure for places lit a fire under his ass. Last 2 games he's been fantastic.
Flamini on a free is a great bit of business. He has made an immediate difference to our midfield. His mentality fits in perfectly as well with the type of team we are trying to build. His communication with the other playershas been key in our organisation. He has made more of a difference for us than Fellaini has at Utd so if that is the level of comparison for transfers then we have done brilliantly to get him for nothing when other players in a similar position targetted by the other big clubs where going for such large fees. He has started very well and i hope he continues this level of performance and work rate.
I criticise Wenger a lot (and rightly so), but i said at the time Flamini on a free was good business, providing he wasn't our only signing. He's made more of an impact than i imagined.
Looks like Flamini has made a big impact on us this season. Very good bit of business by Arsene to pick up the man on a free and bolster our midfield. Probably up there for the best freebees of the season with Everton taking it with Lakaku.
Lukaku isn't a free though, it's a loan and a fee will have been involved. Flamini is the best free agent signing this summer.
I know they pay his wages but they also paid a fee for the loan? Still a very good bit of business to get a beast like Lukaku.
Have to agree that Flamini is looking like a great bit of business for you, especially on a free. Surely Toure to LFC is a shout for best bit of 'free' business too?
