The preoccupation with the armed forces at Ibrox these days is getting way over the top . By all means honour our dead in November and honour the living in June but there was no need for that display at the weekend . It's at the point now where it feels like the forces are being used to stick it to Timmy .

Going by Timmys response it's working .

It's my understanding that when an event like this comes up volunteers are asked for from regiments who are billeted close to the the event . Army wise those who volunteered would be mostly Rangers fans I would think probably based at Penicuik or one of the other Edinburgh barracks .

The Royal marines have a TA barrack just off Helen street half a mile from Ibrox . As for the RAF and Navy they too would ask for names of those fancied a day out .

So the members of the armed forces at Ibrox on Saturday would have been by and large Rangers supporters . They are not a true reflection of the forces and that is probably why they got caught up in the atmosphere .

There are plenty who serve that are Celtic supporters . I wonder the welcome they would recieve at Celtic park if they turned up at that "inclusive" club wearing their battle fatigues .

It's all a load of bollocks tbh and no one dodging bullets in Afghanistan gives a flying **** about football or who supports what team I can assure you of that .

Those scenes were, in my opinion, tragic, pathetic and cringey as ****.

Heres what funnybot had to say about them.

Disagree, all British Service personnel are sectarian bigots.

    Case closed.

It appears they do not like this.

I say more troops at Ibrox.

If possible have them at the warm up before every game.

By all means let the Armed Forces march onto the pitch and take a minute's applause or whatever and then march off. As I said, I have no problem with that, I doubt many would. They should not however be allowed to take part in groups singing or clapping which makes a mockery of their non-political guidelines.

When in uniform a certain standard of behaviour is expected and demanded . Or so I was led to believe .

It's a fact. Misbehaviour out of uniform is frowned upon but the same behaviour whilst wearing uniform is seen as a far more serious offence. Fighting in uniform for example is likely to see you jailed while fighting in a pub off duty and out of uniform is probably a fine at most.

Some of the guys in that photo could be in serious trouble.

In hindsight I suppose joining the crowd and actively singing the various songs was not necessary while donning the uniform. They are ambassadors for the armed forces in such circumstances and should have maintained a professional approach.

It's a good thing that the critics of this unfortunate event are so understanding and will forgive and forget in an instance for the greater good. :)

After the dignified scenes at Ibrox on Saturday with the Armed Forces Day - Rangers couldn't have it in June because all the soldiers were busy practising with their flute bands for the marching season - I'm really looking forward to see what they conjure up for Rememberance Sunday.

Can we expect the glittery cheerleaders will look pure tinsel-lovely during the minute's silence, then there can be a quick round of bingo. Get the game on, then into the half time meat raffle followed by the local ludge walking through the crowds selling poppy-shaped tickets for their hilarious Xmas panto. All wrapped up in Rangers tradition & dignity.

It's what the dead soldiers would have wanted. <ok>
