But what natural cover have we got without playing people out of position My line up for Weds night would be SORRO WILKO ? ? ? ADAM PALACIOS IRELAND ARNIE WALTERS CROUCH PENNANT Iwould play Walters on the basis that he may be able to score down at his true level and the other three "forwards' need game time but how ( do we need to) do we give HUTHY and co a rest If Shea and Muniesca are fit then give them a,go somewhere at some stage ????? SiS
Personally S I S I wouldn't play Arnie he looked good on Saturday, set up our goal for Cameron! We need him fit on Sunday. Apart from that I would play those others. Maybe give Pennant a run out and I'm not sure why he didn't start on Sunday tbh. On the Arsenal game NOT at all SURE how true this is but I've seen comment/s and there is a rumour YES only a rumour that Flamini said to Wilson I will blind you if you do that again! NOT confirmed but some saying the ref heard it and the FA have been informed. That said, it could be nothing and just a (rumour) I hope it is just that SIS.
As long as one of them is wearing his shooting boots we should be ok, good chance to try some new things out, player formation wide.
Agreed Potts we need Arnie fit for Sunday Just thought a good opportunity for him to really get used to the others RE Flamini rumour no doubt Wenger did not see it or hear it as usual SiS PS Hope your weather is ok Still 30c here
I'd go with: Butland/ Soro Wilko Huth ??? ??? Pennant Ireland Palacios Shea/Ethers Crouch Walters Not sure about the other CB and LB position, Peiters, Wilson or Muniesa could be on the left, or it could be Ryan or Muniesa in the middle. I'd also expect Assaidi to get a run out at some point.
For me Sorensen Wilkinson Huth Shawcross, muniesa Pennant Ireland Palacios Assiedo Crouch Shea I do hope we score a few though
Personally I think its a joke that we dont play our strongest 11 in cup games, if players cant play 2 games in 1 week then they are in the wrong profession. my team would be: Bego, Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Pieters, Nzonzi, Adam, Shae, Pennant, Jones, Arnautovic
I agree about 2 games a week, but against a league one team, I don't see a problem with dropping a few of the main 11, giving some others a chance.
I don't think it's about 2 games in one week, they'd all be up to that, it's more the constant grind of 1 or 2 games a week for 35-40 weeks of the year, in which case, rest periods become more important to avoid long-term exhaustion and injury.
Well M.H. got it spot on for me! 7 changes and we won at a canter. Arnie got more game time, Ireland scored and Walters didn't start. All positive from me at least. Can not wait for the Norwich game now, bring it ON!!!!
tennis players play for up to 5 hours a match with a match being sometimes every day, footballers have times of rest. for example when the ball is out of play, if youre a defender and the ball is at the other end of the pitch etc, also players dont train when they have 2 games in a week (maybe do light training), I hear what youre saying but on this occasion I dont agree and players should be able to play 2 games a week, on a lighter note I was chuffed with the performance and result last night. Onwards and upwards up the potters
but had we lost would you have been a little bit annoyed that we played a "weaker" team?, just wondering mate up the potters
Ric Yes I would have mate but!! Unlike Pulis, M Hughes seem's to know whom to play where and also when to play them. His sub's so far have be bang on the money. Just a side note. I would certainly play Asssidi, Pennant on both wings this Sunday with Arnie and Jones up front. Walters NEEDS a rest should have hit the target with that header when he came on. But.. Ireland looked very good too! PROBLEM is it seemed that Arnie played just behind Crouch? Not on the wing so much. Interesting to see where Hughes does play him. I really hope he gets his full debut (home) for us this weekend. K T F Ric.
I'd be disappointed if we'd lost, no matter who played, but I think I'd be more upset if we lost because the first team didn't perform, rather than because we played a 'weakened' side. Plus, cup matches against lower league sides are a great opportunity for players outside of the main 11.
and I also think that this many changes affected our performance today, we are still in our early days with this style and need our first 11 players to be playing together as much as possible. To change this many players is suicide and it happened with other clubs too. It may not have affected the result a great deal but it definitely did not help.
