This has been a standard excuse trotted out by Poool supporters (Siggy, Dempsey etc) :

Said players would have signed for the Poool but are/were greedy mercs.

Aren't all players, these days?

Any vestige of faith I had in players vanished with Bale's departure.

Loyalty exists, but only when there isn't a better offer on the table. So essentially the word 'loyalty' in football is meaningless. Sad, but player's like shearer and le tissier who ironically both started off at the saints, dont exist anymore.

Utd's defeat today has made up for Liverpool losing to Soton, according to various tweets I've seen.

Is this the height of Liverpool fans' ambitions? They can stomach losing at home to a recently promoted, mid table side as long as Utd lose? I bet Swansea fans have higher expectations.

Utd and Liverpool losing made up for arsenal and Chelsea winning. Hopefully next week we'll get a clean sweep of all 4 losing

Some people have been making comments about 'Pool in the "Rivals" thread, but I not yet convinced they are rivals, so I've decided to put this post in this thread.

Such is the damage that Moyes is doing to United that many pundits have 'Pool down as favourites to win this match. I'm not so sure, especially if, as appears to be the intention, Goofy gets a start. I cannot see him doing anything other than coming in an unbalancing the side.

I did hear, earlier today on the radio, Rodgers banging on about how "it's now up to Goofy to pay back the fans, etc." When will he give it a rest! Goofy couldn't give less of a toss about the Mousers if he tried. The only reason he'll put a shift in is to convince both Arsenal and Real to make bids for him in the January transfer window.

Ordinarily, I would have put United down for an easy win, but Moyes has proved himself to be completely out of his depth, that I cannot see him doing anything much at all. Reluctantly, I've got to go for a 'Pool win. I say "reluctant" because Mouser delusion will hit overload, and I'm not sure how much of that I can take.

Big game, especially for Moyes. If he were to lose this one, then I think the critics would start to get on his back.
Losing to Liverpool once is a big negative for Utd. Losing to them twice and to City as well in the space of a few weeks? Very damaging.

The trouble for Moyes is that United is going to struggle against the top 8 sides.

The trouble for Moyes is that Ferguson chose a team from his squad designed to beat the opposition so he could rotate his team. The longer Moyes under performs the more pressure he will become under and he will be forced to play his best side each week. Without rotation, injuries will affect the teams performance when he comes up against the top sides and the problem could spiral out of control. United may struggle this season.

As you've put that in quote marks, can we assume Rodgers refers to him as Goofy now <laugh>

Again a 1-0 either way for Liverpool, they're making a habit of this. I said if they lost one they'd go on a losing streak so that's two. They're playing Sunderland away next, a match they should win. If they don't, well...

Utd beat Liverpool in the League cup and you tell us that they are still champions. Trying to make sense of that and I'm trying to connect the two. No, I'm baffled. How many have you had?
