Speaking to radio blunderslide ,he said I could of moved on but wanted to stay and play in the prem . Brucie seemed anoyed buy his comments . Saying its not just about one player its what suits the team .could he have burned any chance he had.
Not sure how that is any surprise. There were articles that a few teams had inquired about him but he had told the team he wanted to stay. Doubt very much that a comment like that would burn any bridges. Clearly I would need to hear it myself but to me that is the good kind of comment. He doesn't want to leave, he thinks he can help the club, and he believes enough in himself that he is willing to sit on the bench and try to earn his spot. Really not sure what else a player is supposed to say.
It was the way he spoke about having done enh over the last 2 games to put him in the squad ,that seemed to anoy brucie .
I could see how that might annoy a coach. It is up to Bruce when any player has proved himself it isnt up to the player to think he has achieved that. Bruce might also be annoyed that Pro thinks he has proved himself when the opposition has been Huddersfield and Rotherham reserves. Id have to hear it though. Do you have a link?
Surely the manager would want players that are all out of the starting 11, to desperately want to be in the starting 11? That's competition, that keeps the players currently ahead of him on their toes. I'd be delighted with what he said. Urge him to improve - start doing the ugly stuff Bruce mentioned.
Bruce after the game on Tigersplayer - which I believe you subscribe to. Can't find Prozzies interview however....... I did listen to his interview live, but honestly can't recall how he presented himself.....regardless, man manager or not, Bruce doesn't seem to be a softy & if he thinks he hasn't delivered where it counts....he's toast. http://www.player.hullcityafc.net/l...0/name/Huddersfield-Reaction-With-Steve-Bruce PS. If Bruce is not happy with what Prozzie said on air, it'll be most likely pulled, no ?
I listened. I dont think Bruce is upset with anything Pro has said. I think it is clear that Bruce doesnt think Pro is ready and doesnt think he has worked through the physicality issues.
I agree. Prozzy is not the type to publicly make demanding statements, and if others misinterpret his wording when his natural tongue is not English, I don't think Bruce would see it that way. Bruce is fair, but pragmatic. Don't deliver what is required - physicality being his weakness as you say, then there is an exposure. Bruce clearly believes in his goalscoring ability, but questions his "hardness". He still has something to prove in Bruce's eyes. Patience is not a virgin !!
Brucey wasn't exactly complimentary, he said he could finish but it was the rest of his game that was the issue and he should have scored the second similar chance. I think with Gedo back, his chances will be even more limited.
If that is a reason Bruce is annoyed then it's not entirely fair. We signed Prosser, game him a contract and if he doesnt want to move now then that's his perogative. It's not like he's taking the piss and being a disruptive influence, or at least we dont know he is. Ive not heard a single negative story about him. He also probably got a pay rise when we got promoted.
He laid on 3/4 chances for Fryatt and other players last night and none of them converted any of them... First one Prozzy got he slammed it into the back of the net.
I heard both interviews and this is basically the jist of it: Proschwitz thinks scoring in the reserves/second string should earn him a chance of a PL start. Bruce said he knows he can score but it's his overall game that is holding him back, especially the physical side. No animosity from either side - Proschwitz is happy at the club and Bruce gave his usual honest appraisal in his usual amicable way.
Hmmm, I'm not sure about this physical thing. The player Prosser most reminds me of in style is Teddy Sheringham and he was hardly the most physical type. Just cos he's a lanky fooker doesnt mean he should be strong and hard. He could run about a bit more, he has the appearance of being lazy and languid, but he can splt a defence with a pass no problem. For me he's not a proper striker but more deep lying and I do continue to wonder how much we watched him and if we really knew what we were getting?
I think he should be played as a big target man and a battering ram to shove his way through defences to hold the ball up and lay off to goal scorers.
He'll only get a chance to start if 3 out of the following 4 get injured Graham, Sagbo, Aluko and Gedo. One thing that last night did confirm is that Fryatt is now behind Proschwitz in the pecking order.....
I agree with the Sheringham and that he has earned his chance references. He can't really do more than he is doing 5 goals in 2 games is decent. He certainly deserves 20-30 mins on Saturday.
Scoring against Rotherham's reserves and Huddersfield's reserves does not make you deserving of a place in a Premier League game, he's behind Graham, Aluko, Sagbo and probably even Gedo.
This game against Huddersfield was not televised over here in Oz so I only had the benefit of the radio broadcast. At one point, both Burnsey and Swanney commented on what they saw as a more physical approach from Proschwitz with him having won most of the aerial duels he was involved in. Swanney then said that he didn't believe a more physical approach to playing football could be coached - it's either your natural style or it isn't. I would challenge that assertion to some extent. I think there are basically three kinds of players when it comes to this aspect of the game. The first, is the type who is just straight out combative and actually relishes the physical clash and the prospect of intimidating opponents. At the very least, they are basically fearless and can consequently become the sort of players that dominate proceedings. The second, is the type who can be "psyched up" to be more physical - either through their own efforts or the urgings of a coach and it may well be that SB's constant commentary on the matter has paid off. If so, Swanney is wrong and his view may be borne out of the fact that he was pretty physical himself and can't really understand those that aren't. The third type is the player that continues to retreat and actually becomes less combative and less and less effective. In any case, something seems to be going on with Nick and I hope he gets his chance.
