Wow, that's provocative HIAG. Their results have been scratchy to say the least haven't they with dour 1 goal wins and if Stoke knew how to take a penalty another draw as in Swansea would have been on the cards giving them two points less. Swansea looked the more likely to win in the second half with Liverpool all over the place so this result is hardly surprising. Anfield was once a fortress with teams like Saints getting thrashed and after this loss I think Pool may well struggle a bit now.

The Mousers` squad is still painfully thin, and Aspas is ever increasingly looking like Borini mk II and another £8m down the sewer. They were lucky to draw against Swansea and deserved to lose at Villa, they could easily have drawn against Stoke and only deserved to draw with United....... a few results that have papered over the cracks.

Roy Rodgers is tactically a bad manager, his focus on pretty possession football looks neat at times and gets some decent results but Roy has no plan B nor the personnel to change it when needed.

Liverpoo are still firmly in the second tier of the Premier League, and will be battling with Swansea, Newcastle, Everton and Southampton for places 6 to 10.

Also, I would piss myself if Sewerez gets a season ending injury on his return (if only there was any justice in football).

Now I've stopped laughing, why do you think Newcastle will be fighting for 6-10?

  8. Thanks, WY!

I've been allowed back in, off the "naughty-step."

  9. Got to say, I'm extremely pessimistic about the Toon. I can see them engaged in yet another season-long relegation battle. Trouble for them is, I can't see there being 3 teams worse than them, this season; apart from Sunderland, I think there is a clutch of about 8 teams that are all very much on the same level, including the Toon.

This season, we could see both North East clubs relegated.

Seems strange that we let you lot get Eriksen now Cou is out.

We'd all have taken 10 points at this stage at the start of the season. We had 2 points this time last year.

We were missing Johnson, Coutinho and Luis yesterday. Team had no balance, team selection was wrong.

I'd put it at 12 teams with WBA leading the way.

    #4931

  12. Really?

I'd agree with you, that at this stage of the season WBA has got to be included in my 8 teams that are "most likely" to be fighting relegation (and, by corollary, be one of such teams in your 12), but I don't see them as being any better or worse that, at the moment, than the likes of Hull, Crystal Palace, Fulham, or the Toon (it being accepted that Sunderland are most definitely the worst).

You had 7 points the season before that.

Who says you could have stopped us getting him?

  17. Recent history shows that we are the favoured team when it comes to top players choosing between 'Pool and Spurs.

Only because we pay higher transfer fees and wages than the player is actually worth (smartlepool) .

  19. Bale? VdV? Rat-Boy? Fryers? Eriksen?

I think we bought all of those rather cheaply, and paid them wages no more than each was worth. Okay, so I know that none of these were 'Pool targets, but I wasn't sure if your comment is restricted to 'Pool targets, or Spurs signings in general.

The only 'Pool target that I think we may have paid over the odds for was Dempsey who, in retrospect, we should let 'Pool have had. I don't think we paid too much for Dembele.

This has been a standard excuse trotted out by Poool supporters (Siggy, Dempsey etc) :

Said players would have signed for the Poool but are/were greedy mercs.
