2.40 Ayr
Foxy Music 33/1
Just the one bet for me today in and although he's shown next to nothing this season he'll love the bog conditions at Ayr and is incredibly well handicapped. On his 4 starts this year, Eric Alston's 9 year old has shown a huge propensity to hang to his right in running poorly which is a concern here today but he's fallen 12lb for those runs to a mark of 69 which makes him chucked in on his form last year. Rated in the 90s for much of last season, Foxy Music's best effort probably came when 2nd at Chester behind the decent Confessional last May off mark of 90 whilst he also has a close up 5th over this C+D off a mark of 91 July in similar conditions before his form tailed off last season. That poor run of form has continued this year but given how he reached his peak rating last year as an 8 year old I'd be very surprised if his ability completely disappeared despite entering his veteran stages. The sharp drop in weights has seen him fall all the way down to 69 which leaves him chucked in on last seasons form and he also is able to drop into a 0-70 handicap which is will allow him to face a far easier class of horse than he has faced recently. Additionally, he gets his favoured soft ground for the first time this season and the excellent Jason Hart takes a very handy 3lb off his back. This perennial front runner is drawn in stall 9 which is slightly disconcerting given he has hung badly right all season but given that he normally gets a flyer from the stall Hart may try make a bold dash for the nearside rail to prevent him from hanging. Eric Alston and Jason Hart are both in good form at the minute and if the return to soft ground and his easiest assignment for a long time work the trick then Foxy Music can definitely cause an upset here at a huge price.
