Might not be the missing piece of the puzzle right now but regardless it's another very talented young player into the equation, you've got a core at the offensive skill positions that could last you a very long time.

It's very exciting. I don't know if Hilton will ever develop into a true #1 but he'll be a very productive receiver for a long time, so a true #1 WR to replace Reggie (makes me feel sick thinking about him leaving) has us set at skill positions for years and years.

One thing I worry about with Trent, is that even Adrian Peterson would struggle getting 4 YPC behind this OL. That absolutely needs to be sorted ASAP.

Only just read the news that Trent is with the Colts now, should be a boost but will it be enough to give up a first round pick? Good test for Richardson if he starts against the 49ers. Curious to find out if he can shred the best defense of last year.

Good trade for the Colts in my opinion. I find it a very weird trade from the Browns' point of view.

I don't know exactly how the trading system works but don't they have, by logic, now two first round picks next year? Which means they think their second RB is good enough to replace Trent and they can upgrade their team more effectively on other positions. Added bonus is that two first round rookies are probably cheaper than one quality free agent or trade and thus weighs less on the payroll.

I see your point, and I get the whole 'planning for the next draft' thing, but I can't help feeling sorry for the Browns' fans this season - what do they have on offense now? Richardson was arguably the only exciting guy they had!

Their second RB is either Chris Ogbonnaya or Bobby Rainey. They don't think either of those can replace Trent Richardson because obviously they can't. They've given up on the season, hoping to get the #1 pick for Teddy Bridgewater, it's as simple as that.

Josh Gordon is pretty exciting, I guess - the problem being he's a huge troublemaker and his next strike will mean a year's suspension!

Just finished watching the Chiefs and Eagles game, what a horrendous game Vick had! And Alex Smith could take this team to the post season. No interceptions, no high risk passing and when he gets sacked he just takes it, doesn't run around like a headless chicken desperately trying to get rid of the ball. Looked like a veteran last night. And what about Averay, the long third down catches he made were phenomenal!

If they get to the postseason it won't be because of Alex Smith. But you're right, he certainly doesn't run around wildly:

And Donnie Avery is terrible. He's quick, he's very very quick, but he's terrible.

Yea that run was pretty hilarious, but other than that, pretty solid performance from both Smith and Avery.

The got the Giants(h), Titans(a), Raiders(h) the next three games, can see them go 6-0 with a bit of luck. After that Texans but then:
Bills, Browns. Second half is going to be a lot tougher for them with Bronco's en chargers twice and colts, raiders and redskins.

They've got a fairly easy schedule this year, can see them make it.

Justin Houston has to get a mention too, what a game he had.

Yeah, he's a great player. Not long until he starts getting the public recognition he deserves. Even went to the Pro Bowl last year and still loads of people don't know who he is. Same can be said of Daryl Washington.

San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Aldon Smith was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to San Jose police.

Smith was arrested by police officers after a single-vehicle crash at approximately 7 a.m. PT in the city's Silver Creek district, San Jose police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol told NFL Media. Smith's vehicle collided with a tree. Nobody else was in the vehicle when officers arrived, she said.

"The initial investigation revealed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol," Randol said.

Smith was taken to a Santa Clara County jail, where he was booked and later released on $5,250 bail, Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said.

Smith also was booked on a charge of possession of marijuana, Stenderup said. Randol said there was no marijuana charge brought by San Jose police.

Smith was at 49ers practice on Friday. He declined to comment, although coach Jim Harbaugh addressed the arrest.

"I'm disappointed, and I felt like he needs to go to work, face his teammates and soldier through it," Harbaugh said.

Harbaugh added that he anticipates Smith playing in Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

"I expect Aldon, like today, he'll be back at work and playing on Sunday," Harbaugh said.

Smith, 23, previously was arrested for DUI in Miami Beach in 2012. In that case, Smith completed a program for first-time DUI offenders and got a lesser charge of reckless driving, said Ed Griffith, spokesman for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office.

Friday's incident marks the fifth 49ers-related DUI arrest in the last two and a half years, per Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee.

Smith also was recently named in a lawsuit filed by a man who claimed he was shot during a June 2012 party hosted by Smith at the player's San Jose area home. Smith reportedly was stabbed at the gathering.

Attorneys for Smith and former 49er Delanie Walker, who also is named in the suit, have said the man "freely and voluntarily exposed himself to all risks of harm" by attending the party, The Associated Press reported. The lawyers add that his injuries were not caused by the defendants.

A spokesman for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office told NFL Media on Friday the investigation into what happened at the party is ongoing.

The 49ers released a statement Friday about the arrest. It read: "The 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Aldon Smith. As we continue to gather information regarding this situation, we will have no further comment."

The third-year defender has 3.5 sacks this season after piling up 19.5 takedowns in 2012.

Freeman has been dropped then. Mike Glennon time. Thought he was pretty average coming out of college, not convinced he'll be a long term answer but who knows.

It's sad to see, but it looks like he's on his way out at the end of the season:(

All is not well on the Buccaneers ship, Schiano is doing as good a job of man management as Captain Bligh.

I'll have to change my signature too.
