If Chelsea and City are looking oddly weak and we're not title contenders who do you think is going to win the league? Everton?

    Yeah I know <doh>

Fergie won you that title with a little help from RVP - Can Moyes do the same? Not for me, maybe in future seasons but not his first. If he does, then I'll be humble enough to say I was wrong.

Haven't got a clue, but not Everton!!

I'm sure Chelsea and City will get it together sooner rather than later - just at the moment they don't play like a team.

Whereas that doesn't apply to us.

    Brilliant logic.

I think you'll find most people are saying the same.

It's not because I'm a Liverpool fan - that's my honest opinion. And like I said if he does then fair play and I'm humble enough to admit I was wrong.

They've had major makeovers - whereas you've had a change in manager and one player come in. Not the greatest logic I agree, but Chelsea and City simply don't know there best 11 yet, where I believe Man Utd do.

They've had more player changes as well as managerial changes but they're more likely to gel than last season's runaway champions are. Scouse logic.

Out of interest, what's the basis for you thinking Pelligrini will be able to mould a PL side quicker and better than Moyes?

Chav FC and ££££ dont have a best 11, they have 11 good players playing for themselves. UTD play as team, they always have.

both clubs problem is deeper than what you think
chelsea have almost same team, their problem is they are unbalanced with too much attacking mid who offer little defensively, and they have the wrong manager to get the best out of the type of players he has .. and there is a QS if those attacking players are a fit for PL style or not
City problem is that, they have the right manager and players but for the wrong league

can't see Chelsea improving unless they sack Jose or sign more balanced mid and a striker, Jose style and type of players he has not gonna work and their attackers sucks .. can't see how time can improve that ?
City meanwhile can improve in condition that their manager adopt to PL style and find the right balance .. meanwhile not all manager can find that balance, we seen how Rafa, Juande Ramos, AVB, Scolari and others struggled signing many wrong players who don't fit the league and not adopting style wise, AVB now is looking better than the time he started , but he is still learning and will need more time .. and same thing will happen to Pellegrini

More in hope than expectation then, I got you now.

Of the three City are in limbo by a good degree more than the others yet everyone just expects them to be great. On what basis I have no idea, they were miles behind last season with an established manager, how is a foreign manager with no experience in our league and no trophy winning background supposed to sort that out so quickly then?

Yet one with years of premier league experience who is taking over the run away premier league champions with the minimal of player upheaval is deemed incapable of doing the same.

    Weird.

Once Moyes finds his best team then then we're the ones to beat, as always.

That's is exactly the crux of the matter..SHOULD but will the scousers ??..It is the inconsistency. At home you could beat United and any top sides but away you could draw or lose against Hull or Crystal palace (with due respect to them of course). Now that you've won your Cup final against United, where do you go from here? You will be one of the teams lost in Middle league...

Nor do I - think you will be fighting it out for top four.

Based on what evidence? The optimism is really rather misplaced.
    1) the scousers have not played any difficult opposition (apart from United at home who were incredibly bad).
    2) United, City, Arsenal, Spurs and the Chavs will have brushed away such opposition
    3) this was the first real test as a challenging away game and Tikitaka failed.
    4) I would be worried at how the team was tottally outclassed in the second half (no this is not too strong a word) by Swansea
    5) The likely team to win the match was the Swans and anyone watching the match would not think that the scousers were the top side of the two
    6) even though Sturridge form is encouraging, the goals were not created by the scousers but gifted by Shelvey

Despite all that, the scousers are top four material? Although it is not impossible, nothing of what I have seen so far indicate that they could be good enough...<ok>

To be fair when I saw Swansea's side the first thing I thought was that it is very good. If Shelvey could concentrate for 90 minutes he might be a half decent player but that's an aside, the point is a draw there isn't too bad. Title winning sides win there though.

I think Liverpool have half a chance of top four if their vital players stay injury free. I don't think that within their squad they have good enough cover for Gerrard, the goal keeper, for Lucas, for Enrique or for Sturridge.
Injuries to those and they have average or untried cover.

That would obviously be great, but there's a long way to go and I've been watching Liverpool for even longer. Knowing us, Southampton could twat us this weekend. However, I detect a different atmosphere this season. Long may it continue.
