Osvaldo first half, Lallana poor first touch when through, Lambert hit the post, Schneiderlin - great save from your keeper, a curling shot from the edge of the penalty area which was tipped away (not sure who from). All those were good chances.

Only 2-3 of those could really be called "golden chances" though.

Any way what's your point? As a home team playing against a team with several missing players, you should be creating chances. In fact you should be creating a lot more than you actually did

My original assessment was correct I'm afraid. You edged it and that's all.

I don't call edging it when we had 58% possession and the majority of the chances. You had one good chance all game, albeit the best one of the whole match but one just the same.

Don't waste your time with Trixter, especially when he's right as they were good value for their point; defended stoutly. If we'd won they couldn't have complained either.

What would you call 58% possession vs 42% possession and 3 good chances vs 2 then? :D

I'd say 'edged it" is the perfect term for your display.

It's ok Thomas. I know you so desperately want to be able to look down on us Hammers and our dinosaur tactics but face facts. You were not much better than a patched up mid table side yesterday and your style of football was no better than ours.

We came for a point and but mighty close to taking all three at the end.

Yeah I agree with all of that. If you'd nicked a goal then although it would have been harsh after our efforts, I would have accepted it.

    Ok Lambo.

Not sure I deserved it though.

In my opinion he is just frustrated that your oh so forward thinking football team was pretty much matched by Sams patched up, Long ball playing dinosaurs with a starting 11 which cost not much more to assemble than Pablo Osvaldo.

Still, if it makes him feel better then good luck to him. <cool>

Any body would think you didn't have any other players the way you are talking. No one is saying that you are not missing some of your stars. I can guarantee anyone of the replacements are more than capable of scoring goals.
Sadly West Ham are not the footballing side of yesteryear as is acknowledged by most of your fans that come on here. Of course there are those that love his negativity I assume you to be one of those.......<whistle>

You didn't really match us. Kept us out for 90 minutes.

Osvaldo was assembled? That man is a machine :)

I think you are putting your team down a little bit there, at times this season WH have played the ball on the ground pretty well. I remember thinking "crap, west ham have learned how to play".

However I do think we more than edged the game. Osvaldo's chance right in front of goal that he hit at the keeper was as good as Collins' big chance. Plus we had numerous others including hitting the post. First half it was more even, but second half we deserved to score.

And almost all of them are paid more than Osvaldo.

I didn't think there was too much between the teams on Saturday. The first half was atrocious even though Saints might have had the better possession. Both teams looked dire during the initial 45 minutes but Saints did pep things up in the second half even though the lack of width looks like being a big problem this season.

It's quite interesting reading the West Ham perspective. They are a dour team and not to imaginative yet Big Sam managed to neutralise Saints for much of the game. Lambert was especially quiet and the performance of the keeper was such that I don't think we would have scored if we had played for 90 minutes. On the basis of this game, there isn't a huge gulf between WHU and Saints and we certainly flattered to deceive. The two home games show a marked contrast in the kind of performances that Poch inspired last season and the combination of pressing and flair seemed absent. I don't understand the continued substituting of Lallana and Cork's omission from the squad also baffles me. Elsewhere, the team members are generally playing well yet I feel we miss Puncheon who was a catalyst for the better performances last season. Saints will get better as the season progresses and West Ham will continue to frustrate and irritate and I don't think we will finish too far apart from each other at the end of the season.

I know it's still early but the West Brom Sunderland game tomorrow is massive.

That's my take on it too.A draw won't be a disaster for either, especially Sunderland.A defeat for either makes it sticky.
