Morning, I've been given tickets for the st. Leger at Doncaster and my knowledge of horse racing is not great, anyone care to share any betting tips they may have.

Watch them in the paddock and back the one with the "fittest" stable lass!

    Morning Mackem!!

Fancy a couple at Donny today but not over confident. I wouldn't call them 'tips', just the horses I'm backing...

    2:40 - Steps 10/1
    3:50 - Leading Light 5/1

Best advice I can give if it's your first time is just enjoy the day for what it is, don't go to the meeting expecting to win and if you can't decide what horses to back have a quid on your lucky number or favourite colours - this does actually work... Occasionally lol!!

Hope you have a good day bud, either way would be good to hear what you thought of the experience and how you got on - good luck!!

Good advice from Drever and Stick! If you're really struggling by the final race you might want to consider John Quinn's Levitate. This years Lincoln winner has had little break, has a good record at the track (2 wins and a 2nd from 5 races), will appreciate a bit of give in the ground and at 10s is worth an ew punt. Have a good day.

Yep. That should give you a lift.

The only advice I can give scawby, is that if you see a selection from me, don't back it. I just can't pick a winner at present.

If you're taking the missus/girl friend make sure she enjoys it; then she'll let you go again. Try to get to the paddock to get a close up of the horses. Watching horses just flash past every half an hour is no fun for anyone. If you buy a race card try out the Timeform racecard and read what they say about each horse.

Have a great day and as Drever says, regard it as a day out and treat your stakes as part of the cost and any returns as a bonus.

    Interesting selections badger.

    2:40 - Our Jonathan 14/1
    3:50 - Libertarian 7/1
    6:05 - Mont Ras 10/1

were all ones I selected then changed my mind. You know what that probably means.

Libertarian, Talent and Foundry were my 3 against the field in the Leger and I finally plumped for the last named.

I had 3 winners, 7/2, 2/1 and 13/8 nap. Assuming 4 points on each and double for the nap (makes calculation easier) I make that
    Stake: 32 points
    Return: 51 points
I make that a profit. Wonders will never cease.
